Hello.........

My name is Wendy and I am new to this forum. I was DX'd w/BP disorder about 8 years ago. I just wanted to find a place where people understand what I am going through every day.

My family was a great source of support in the beginging, but after all this time, it's become "old hat" to them. They don't support me. They tell me to pick myself up and pull it together! Gosh, I wish it were only that easy.

Anyhow, I hope to get to know you all better and I can get some support.

Sincerely,

Welcome and yes, come here and let us do what we can to support you.

You know, if bipolar meds were perfect all the time, we could just pull ourselves up by our boot straps!

First of all, and I tell everyone here this, STOP beating up on yourself. You are not mentally ill, you have a chronic illness more akin to diabetes or high blood pressure. This illness does a number on the people who suffer through it. I hope to one day work with bipolar people regularly (see my sig line) because I'd love to see healed psyches and more self-worth in many I see here. I am not dissing them, I wishing I could just scoop us up as a group and make us feel better. If it isn't enough for us not to be in control of ourselves, the world has to emphasize all that they see that is wrong with us. As I write this I am thinking that perhaps it is the rest of the world with the bigger problem!

THe people here listen and we care. Glad you found us.

I am a spelling stickler, but only with myself. I transcribe for a living and I have to be on the money. Having said that, I am a pro at reading typo as a separate language. I don't care how you spell, I am sure I can figure it out. What counts most is that you come here and let these good people be supportive and helpful to you. We'd rather you were the world's worst speller and come here and hang with us, than not come here and not be part of our group.

It takes all kinds of people, including poor spellers, to make a board like this active. Welcome and hope to see you post often.

Lady Dragonfly,

Thank you for your post. You expressed a lot of powerful thoughts. Your post made me feel very welcomed here. I have met some really nice people thus far. You, my dear are one of them.

I read some of the older posts and see what a "family" you all have here. I will be happy when I can call myself part of this group!

Best wishes and I hope you have a very happy holiday season.

Wendy :-)

Welcome Wendy. I have another close friend named Wendy who has just been Rx'd as BP as well.

I love this board, I'm new to the dx and to this board and I love it here :)

All the best to you. Since you've lived (and that in and of itself is a triumph) for 8 years with this albatros, would you say you are 'leveled' out. In other words are you more stable than you were say, 7 year ago

Hugs

Hi Wendy and welcome.  I have been absent for a few months but not because I've been well and had nothing to say.  When I was first diagnosed at BP I thought it was wonderful because there is a medication for it.  I just wish that's all there was to it.  I still have a lot of hi's and low's.  I think you will find this group very supportive and empathetic for we've all had the same feelings at one time or another.   Lazy
