i will be going into the hospital for a (second) back operation.  don't really know how long i'm going to be "out of it" - sorry about the (bad) pun.

if i'm not back in time, i wish everyone a merry christmas, joyous ramadan, happy quansaa, and happy chanacka - select the one appropriate for your ethnicisity.  :-)    sorry friends, i can't stay serious too long.

at any rate, i'd appreciate your good thoughts and please stay up this holiday season - more suicides during this season than any other time of the year.   let's not become a statistic.

thank all of you for your good thoughts and prayers (this jew believes we all pray to the same entity - just with different names).

i went to see my pulminologist on dec 20.  he said that i was weasing and that if i had general anesthesia i might not be able to come off the ventellator.  so much for copd and smoking for 50 yrs!  so i used a nebulizer (breathing machine) every 4 hours around the clock until i went in for the surgery on the 22nd.

the surgioon removed some hardware from my back that he left during the first operation.  apparently this second surgery is very common.  the dr told me it would be a day surgery.  when i woke up out of anesthesia they told me they wanted me to stay in the hospital for "a few days."  you all know me better than that.  i pay them, they don't pay me.  besides, i wanted to spend xmas with my wife.  we compromised, i get out of the hospital in the 24th,

i can't do much of anything - not that i could before.  i can't sit, i can't walk, and it hurts when i lay down.  they only gave be darvocet and lortab for the pain - which is like candy for me - it has no effect.  fortunately i have some percocet from my pain management dr.  i took two of them last night adn had some peace.

take care all.  AND NO STATISTISTICS from this group!

sometimes pain is the only thing that lets you know you're alive.
