I have been taking lithium for about five years now and I hate the chit. I have at one time quit taking it all at once.(DON'T SUGGEST THAT). I am discontinuing it now but very slowly. I was taking 1600mg per day and now I am taking 1200 per day and have been doing so for about a month now. I am about to step down to 1000mg per day. I will stay on that dose for about 2 or 3 weeks. I would arrange this through my doctor but I hat him so I'm doing on my own and it is working out ok so far. What has really saved me in this whole experiment is I started taking a small dose of xanax and will get off of it as soon as the lithium clears my system.  I would suggest something just to calm the nerves. Good luck at let us know how its going. Mine seems to be working ok so maybe I can help.
