hey everyone, I'm col. I'll be 16 june 16th. I'm from new york. I've been diagnosed bipolar for a little over 3 years now from various psychiatrists and 5 psych hospitals but I don't like to label myself with a diagnosis but rather try and help relieve my symptoms of anxiety, depression and erratic behavior with coping skills &etc. It's not easy and some days I feel like I want to give up but things have gotten better {somehow I feel like I shouldn't have typed that because I always jynx everything. lol} I attend a small therapeutic highschool where there's minimal work and not a lot of pressure, so that's definitely to my advantage. I'm adopted. I love to sing, I've been taking lessons for eight years.. I participate in NYSSMA and actually got a 90 which is an a-{level 6, tried out for all-state, I don't think I'll get in though}. I love reading, writing, anything revolving around that. The human mind fascinates me. I feel older than I am. Energy drinks are something I probably couldn't live without. I love getting to know people so reply if you want to talk further!
have a glorious day
(:

I hope you have a good sweet 16! Let us know how the birthday goes.

Anyway, I noticed you said you liked energy drinks. I have heard that people with bipolar disorder should avoid energy drinks. The issue is that there is large amounts of caffeine in them. It is not recommended to consume large amounts of caffeine from any source including colas, teas, or coffee. It can stimulate the manic part to have too much caffiene. This probably sounds bossy, but I just wanted to point it out.

shesmydisease,

I'm with Jade11 about the caffeine intake.  When I was younger, I probably livedof caffeine.  I used to have 2-3 energy drinks a day, plus sodas and coffees and anything else that kept me up (physically and emotionally).  I used to get in a frenzy, and after a while my mood was affected too much the the pdoc told me to cut it out completely.  It worked for about a year, and gave it to the temptation.  At least now, I don't intake that much caffeinated beverages, I try to stay the bare minimum.  My pdoc even said a cup or two of coffee is actually good for you.  More than that, then other factors come into play.
