It's very scarey when you first find out your bipolar. At least for me it was. I was just diagnosed May 9th of this year. so i'm still learning. i was told i have it given some pills and sent on my way. i have done a lot of research on my own. and i found this very wonderful supportive site. i am 29 years old. and still very thrown by all this. if you want  you may email me i have my contact information under my name on the left. i am more then willing to try to help in anyway i can. the best thing you can do is to inform yourself and talk to your doctor about any questions and concerns you have. and you're going to have lots of them.
I am bipolar, have social anxiety, panic attacks w/agoraphobia , diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure. Life is short but i am not.

Melissa,

Welcome to the HealingWell family, I am happy  that you found us.  I hope that you find the support you are looking for here.  When I first got diagnosed about 2 years ago, I was reluctant to believe it.  It came as a shock, but it got easier to live with over time.  There are so many people out there that might share a similar experience to yours and could benefit from what you have to say.

Again, Welcome!!! :-)

Hi Melissa:

It's a scary diagnosis, isn't it? But there's some relief in knowing that it's controllable, you're on the mend, and you'll be okay. Hang in there! This forum is a good place to be. Welcome.

Hi Melissa,

i hope your adjustment goes alot smoother then mine. i have recently been diagnosed with BP1 and am having a really hard time adjusting to the meds and the loss of all the good feelings and energy i used to have. if you don't need meds i wouldn't push them beacuse they are not at all what you might think.

good luck! Just reamber this is your life don't do it for anyone else! Jasmin

I've lived with bipolar for years ... undiagnosed until recently, so I know how tough it can be. The meds help, but I feel like they take away my drive and my creativity sometimes. I guess it's just a matter of finding the right balance.
Good luck to you.

slappt 7,
Welcome to healing well, I hope you find the support you are looking for here!  yeah

I have never been creative in my manic states, things just get way out of control.  I wish I were creative then a lot of things would be completed.  I've learned to live with medication, and work around the symptoms.  I fight to be creative despite the mental block I get from my meds.
