I recently got off lamictal and celexa on June 2nd 2007 after 10 YEARS...The fluid retention is still on my hips and stomach which put my body way out of proprotion.
How can this be fixed? Is it even possible?
what exactly happened in the body to make the pills do this? Has it messed with my hormones? Where can you get help?

Plastic suregery ?would it even help rectify the problem?

Sweethang,

First, I would like to welcome you to the HW family.  I am sorry you are dealing with exessive water weight.  I too retained a lot of water weight (about 20lbs) on Lamictal for taking it for almost 2 years. It was mostly in my midsection too.  I was also on Lithium at the time and that may have contributed to it. I lost the weight with mostly excersise, I walked about 1 hour a day. Other than that I don't have other suggestions. Sorry.

How long did it take you to lose the weight?

Thanks

Sweethang,

There were so many things that affected my weight loss (I was in an accident and was in the hospital 9 day) shortly after stopping lamictal.  The contributed to the largest chunch of my weight loss, and it was not intentional.  The rest abut 8-10lbs took 2-3 months.  But it was not impossible, so about 2-4 months total.  Do not be descouraged, if you are really concerned, you should contact your dr.  Best wishes on your journey.
