Hi there everyone,

hopefully i can get some support and answers.I suffer from major depression and newly diagnosed with biopolar II.I tried Effexor,Lexapro and Zoloft.they all have failed.Im now on my second day on 300mg/Wellbutrin and 60mg/Cymbalta.
I also take 1mg Clonazepam when needed.I tried Abilify and never again,it didnt help at all,it made me drowsy and i was throwing up.
Does anyone here take any of these meds?
I just wish i could wake up one day and just be happy for one day.I cry a lot,im sad,i get very upset, feel numb and think about death and giving up but im trying to get better each day and hope i can beat this chemical imbalance confused

Hi jenna,

Welcome to HW, you will find support here.  I am Bipolar II; but was initially dx'd with depression like you.  I was dx'd with Bipolar almost 2 years ago.  Bipolar I would say is a bit tougher to manage, with the meds, than depression.  In my opinion.  It just seems a lot harder to find the right combination, and most of the time that means no anit-depressants b/c they can cause hypomania or manic episodes.

There is hope though.  It's just a matter of finding the right ones; and that means really waiting those first several weeks out when trying new meds to give them a chance to get past the side effects and to start working for you.

I hope you have a good pdoc, and hopefully you have some therapy or counselling too.  It's much more than just meds.  I am sorry you are going through such a rough time right now.  It's so hard, and we all understand.  Keep posting, let us know how you are doing on your new meds.  When you are sad, reach out, we'll be here.

PS-I do take Clonazepam for my panic attacks and anxiety sypmtoms.  It seems to help.

Welcome to the HW family, jenna.  There are a lot of people who are taking your medication and I hope you find the support you are looking for.
As Mogli said, there are tons of meds out there, but finding the right combination is hard.  Also what works for some people doesn't work for the next.  It took me over a year to find the right combination.
You are going throught a rough patch, and hang in there.

hi and welcome we here are like you. In search of an answer to our conditions. Our feelings of hoplessness sorrow, fear, disappointments. But guess what? there is help out there, there is hope too. The meds that they give us work differently on everyone, because not all brains are the same, because not all people are the same. We all have different levels. while our seratonine levels and the others are low the meds help to stabalize them but they will always be inbalanced because of thier makeup. alot of us were born that way, but alot of it stems from our environments around us, and stress factors. stress kills, i want you to know this. it is a silent killer too. it keeps eating away at the good parts of us, until there is this feeling of overwhelming hopelessness guilt and sorrow. But wait, nono stop there with that negative thought, we are not disabled, we are chosen. the ones chosen out of all the people on this globe to have what we have. we are not dead yet, we are just inbalanced as a scale, we need to find the very med or thing that will balance the scale out, so it is not tipping at all, but balances at a even level. you will get there, you are off to a good start. you reached out for advice, and help you will get it here. we are unique and talented people.

hello and welcome. finding the right meds is a hard process. it requires a lot of patience. the meds can take a while to get into your system. i know how hard it can be to be waiting to feel better and there seems no end in sight of the suffering. i was just dx in may and have just went through trying to find the right meds and then waiting for them to work. i'm not the most patient person so it was pretty hard.

i dont have any experience with your meds other than the clonazepam. so i cant really be of any help there. all i can say is hang in and try to give it time. come here for help as much as you need. surround yourself with lots of support. and just hang in there. thats how i got through the worst part, the crying and being so low. i hope this helps. and that you feel better soon. good luck and see you around.
I have bipolar disorder, panic attacks w/agoraphobia, social anxiety, diabetes, asthma, and high blood pressure.
