Hi Guys,

I had my appt with my pdoc today...Because I am cycling so much, my pdoc did give me a script for Loxapine.  He left it up to me to decide whether I'm going to fill it or not.  He said I could research it first if I wanted...So I'm starting to do that.  Anyway, I was honest with my pdoc today.  I did tell him about my severe mixed episode I had almost 2 weeks ago...

Just wondering if anyone has ever taken this medication before and what their experiences have been.

Ugh, my mood is not great today.  I started feeling awful again last night, and it's carried over into today.  I'm mostly irritable, depressed...My appetite is nil. sad

Not many people are prescribed this drug is my conclusion. I cant find much other than typical side effects.

Only one report on www.askapatient.com

I hope you find someone else who has tryed the medication.

Good luck.

Hey Guys,

You guys are so sweet to reply even though this med is a mystery.  Thank you so much.  Now that it's the weekend I will have more time to research it.

I've been depressed/mixed pretty bad again this entire week, and tonight it's very bad.  I am getting tired of struggling so much.  It's getting to the point now where I don't know what to do, and I'm scared.  I'm scared b/c it's so out of control and b/c these episodes are getting pretty severe.

Anyway, I'll post my findings on this drug sometime this weekend, and I'll let you all know if I decide to try it.  I usually don't have much luck with antipsychotics; they don't really treat my depression sypmtoms.

Did he say why he chose this drug over others which are more common?

Hmmmm.... Weird. Normally for schizophrenia. Maybe because of the severe, rapid cycling, mixed episode stuff? I'm puzzled.
