I have never been on this section of the forum before but does anyone know for a fact, or a medical opinion on whether or not wearing a bra to bed can increase ones chances to get breast cancer? Is that a rumor? My fiance' insists on wearing one to bed fearing that they will somehow sag as they get older and personally it scares me that she continues to wear it to sleep.

Thanks,
Cutter

It never ceases to amaze me with the things people come up with. Here's a great site that debunks many breast cancer myths. Don't know if nocturnal bra wear is among them, but it does mention wearing a bra as not being a factor. Hope that helps relieve your mind. Lauri (dxed 4/11/96)

Well, my mother was one who believed that wearing a bra to bed would cause breast cancer, so you can be assured that I was never allowed to wear bras to bed as a young girl, never wore them to bed as a young woman...and got breast cancer anyway.

Honestly, if you are concerned, ask her doctor. He could put your mind to rest better than any of us. To my knowledge, it's just an "old wives' tale."

I have heard that one, too, and doubt that it's true.  The sad thing is, most breast cancers are of unknown origin, so who really knows?  Just do what you think is right for you (or should I say, your fiance).
