I don't  know where to begin except to say.. I really want to bulls eye off my back!  I was just DX. with tubular breast cancer.  I know it is a "good kind: altho right now I don;t find comfort in that. Had an MRI today and they found ANOTHER spot so now have ANOTHER biospy scheduled.  I also had to have genetic testing.  My mother has had bi lateral breast cancer as well as pancreatic  cancer and is an ashkenasie jew.  So.... if the testing comes back positive... double mastectomy and ovararies out!  Too much for me to cope with.  So...
Am reaching out.

Over the years on the crohns board I have made such wonderful friends,  They suggested i  come here1  Is Miraclesiveseen around... hear she also has crohns.

Hi prof! Welcome to our club, but sorry to invite you!

Yes, having a good kind is good, and you are right, it does not soften the blow right now. In the long run, you may be able to take comfort in that, but for now, you feel sucker punched. You are dealing with a lot of information, so take it easy and give yourself time to digest the info. I too am Ashken****e (I had to deliberately misspell the word...hoping the phonetic makes sense. System bleeped me out, as part of the word forms another) and had genetic testing, but I waited about 10 months before I finally did the testing. I needed to be sure I was ready for the info and answer, knowing too that I would have had prophylactic surgery (i was negative, yea!).

My advice is to surround yourself with people and things that make you feel good, try to not take in too much info at once, but find the balance to be informed and take control of your own decisions. Tall order, we know....feel free to ask us questions and let us know how we can help. Some of us old timers have been posting together for years (I was dx'ed in 11/99) and we're here to help.

Lori

Lori.. thanks...  had a MRI yesterday and they found ANOTHER spot on the  opposite breast so now have to go for ANOTHER biospy.  Had no choicein the gentic testing.. needed to have it done tohelp make some treatment decisions.  If this biospy comes back positive, then decision is made...

Yes... I do feel sucker punched and to make matter worse.. the cd is acting up and the prolapse is giving me alot of problems.   Just too much to handle.  BUT... hope I  can get the same comfort here as I have had in the psst from the crohns forum.

Hi! You might also want to look up the FORCE board which was started by a former member of our group for hereditary testing and has a lot more information about it. Here is the link. http://www.facingourrisk.org/ Sue is also of the sect of Jewish women who have the gene. She is a wonderful lady and I am sure you will find lots of information there. Meanwhile feel free to join us. We are a varied group used to lending a shoulder to venting and moaning. We are not as active as we used to be, but some of us have been together as a group for nearly 11 years. Hugs. MK

Hi, I wanted to add my welcome to the club. So sorry about your diagnosis, but you have found a great group of women who will be by your side through out the days, weeks, months and yes, even the years ahead if need be. Like Lori and MK, I am one of the "old-timers." MK is right about FORCE. It would be worth checking out. The link is www.facingourrisk.org
Sue F. is great. She is knowledgable, warm, comforting and encouraging. You are welcome to come here and vent or ask questions anytime. Someone is sure to have some information for you. And, we will all listen and understand. You are not alone on this journey. Hugs, Lauri (dxed 04/11/96)
