I went to my gyn. last year with a complaint of a small hard nodule in my right breast beneath the nipple.  She thought it was nothing to worry about.  A year later it is still here.  The thing is that it is the same size as it was.  Never got bigger.   I am going back in a month for a re-check but is that a good sign that it is the same size? Would it be bigger by now if it were cancer?  It is smaller than a pea and round.  just need a lil peace of mind.  Going to the dooctor anyhow.  Thanks so much!

Hi there...there is no way to say if it were cancer, it would or would not act a certain way. Unfortunately that can't buy you peace of mind, but it should not increase your worry either. There are a lot of myths out there. Some docs think if were cancer it would not hurt. Others say if it is movable, it is not cancer. Both are not true and are not diagnostic indicators. Getting it checked with a mammogram, ultrasound and then some kind of biospy is the only way to be 100% sure. Try not to worry though, your worry will not help you. 80% of breast lumps are benign. THat is a statistic that is in your favor!

Be your own best advocate and don't settle till you have a definitive. And let us know how it turns out, we'll be rooting for ya!

Hi worried. No, that does not mean it has spead. Many cancers have been growning for sometimes up to 10 years before they are even felt. It could be that it has just been sitting there. There are some slow growing cancers. I would also advise you to get it tested and biopsied. Biopsy is the ONLY 100% sure answer. If your dr. won't do it, find another dr. It is your body and your life, so don't just say ok.
As Lori said 80% of lumps are benign so odds are in your favor!
Please let us know how it goes. We do care!

Just want to echo what Gail and Lori have told you. My surgeon said my small 6 mm lump had probably been growing for several years before it was large enough to feel. A biopsy is the only way to know for sure what this is and you need to know that. Good luck and keep us posted. Like Gail said, We care. Hugs, Lauri (dxed 04/11/1996)

hi sorry to ┬┤listen to your fears. but if you asked me, although am not a doctor but i wil tell you is cancer cause this exactly the same way it happened to my mum untill we confirmed that it was acancer. we were so worried to loose my mum untill someone gave us information to somewhere in nigeria. there is a traditional clinic called ROOT CLEANSING clinic. we quickly secured nigerian visa and rushed my mum down there and after she spent 3 weeks there getting daily medication finally the cancer disappered without any operation. althougit costed money and time but what is money and time to compare life. try there and i garanttee with 99% it will be well. my mum is welthiernow than before. so good luck
