I do remember you and I do recall that our BC was similar. Sorry, I wish it ended there! Wow, Papillary for you too? Have you read any info about whether there is a link between BC and thyca? I read one article that said there might be a correlation but the others i read said that the jury is still out or the articles were too technical for me. My new surgeon said that it is possible that my breast rads contributed to the thyroid cancer due to the scatter. I am eager to read more about that too. Bottom line is that it does not matter what caused it, but I am interested to learn more.

I am glad your surgery went well. I spoke to someone last night who had a similar story to mine too (minus the BC) and she went back to work after 5 days. I plan to take a week off and then a week of part time from home, and maybe another week at home full time.

How much down time did you have? much pain? And how bad was the radioactive tx with it? How often do you get scans?

Sorry too that you are dealing with the recurrence again but what a tough gal you are! Hang in there and stick around, we'd love to chat with you!

I have asked that question too and I have pretty much found what you have. They say rads can contribute, but usually it wouldn't show up for many years later. I still think there must be some kind of link because I have read of other people with the same issue. I think it just needs to be researched more.

I was out of work about 2 weeks, but mostly just because I was a little tired. And, it was Xmas time so I figured I might as well have some extra time for the holiday. It took awhile to get back to normal after having no thyroid. Once I got on my thyroid medication, it was much better.

As for my recurrence, I was lucky. The lump they took out was smaller than my original and it divided at a much slower rate. Also, the lump I had in my neck came back negative for cancer. So, as weird as it is to say, I have been fortunate.
One thing I have learned over the last 5 years, enjoy life! Even on the bad days, I try to remember how lucky I am to be around one more day!

Good luck! I will be checking in on you!
