Hello Friends..well,I was in the hospital twice in the last 2 months. The chemo is not kind to me these days.
I will be stopping chemo..my onc says it is really taking a toll on my body. Getting much to hard to deal with.
My Onc seems to think it is time to start Palliative Care. Our local Hospice handles the Palliative Care Service.
The nurse practioner was out to visit last week. We discussed my fatigue, nausea & vomiting and most of all
the pain. The most important is for me to get the pain under control. After our meeting she talked to
my Onc and they both agreed that I need to be on Methadone for the pain. I started it on Thursday
and I was told it takes up to a week for me to start feeling the effects. Please keep your fingers crossed
that it helps. I really like the nurse assigned to me .... we get along well. Also, when & if the time comes,
the transition to hospice will be easy.
I am sorry I have been bad about answering posts....I will try to be better !
Love and Hugs

Oh Cathi, I am so sorry to hear things are not going well. You have been through so much {{{{HUGS}}}}
You are in my prayers, sweetie, for the pain to be under control and for strength. You are so loved by all of us who have met you, you are a very special lady. Please keep us updated as much as you can, and know we love you.

Love, Gail

Im so sorry for your recent news, you have been thru so much already. I sure hope the methadone helps for the pain, it is bad enough fighting this disease but to hurt so much on top of it is not fair. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!

Dear Cathi,

I so admire your spunk for being able to write to us about your news. I know how hard it is to give up treatment but at some point you have to weigh the difference between quality and quanity. I hope your pain is controlled and you can enjoy your life with your family. Surely you know we are all on your side and we all keep you in our thoughts and prayers. I wish it was not so far away, I sure would like to give you a great big hug right now. You are very special. MK

To my fellow Cleveland Browns fan

I wish I had the right words to say right now with all that you are going through.  My heart breaks for you and how I know the decision to stop treatment was a hard one to make.  Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  I hope too that finding a treatment for the pain is a successful one.  Not sure when I will be up around Cleveland again but if I make it up there I will give you a shout out.

Cathi, what a brave woman you are! We know none of us asked for this, but I am sensing peace in your decision to stop treatment and that is just awesome. Treatment has been so very hard for you, I just desparately want you to get that pain under control, and it sounds like a plan is in place. Thanks for the update, you are always in my thoughts.

And you'll love this....we're going to St. Louis in a few weeks to see SPringsteen, and we are staying at a real hotel. I'll think of you, Cath, when we go to the top of the arch. Remember all those years ago!

Take care-

I have tried to post and for the first time in my life I can not write a post. I felt bad about not posting. I have been trying for days but you know how I feel and how much your comfort means to me. I know you tried even when your body said enough. You are one gutsy lady that Vic and I are proud to call friend.

My dear Cathi...you have fought a helluva tremendous fight, my friend, and I am so proud of you!  Methadone is supposed to be a very good pain reliever, when nothing else will work.  I hope it brings you comfort.
I came to the board today to post that I have another cousin who has been diagosed with breast cancer.  Her sister called me today to tell me.  BJ asked her to call me, and she doesn't want me to call her, because she doesn't want to know ANYTHING about breast cancer, and she is NOT going to have chemo, no matter what the doctors say. My heart breaks for her...  She has had such a difficult life, and she has a first grandbaby now who is the light of her life, and now this...
And I find your post, and my heart breaks again.  Please know that my thoughts are with you!  You deserve some comfort, Cathi.  If words and thoughts could heal you, you would be well SO many times over!
Take care, and please keep in touch!
Love and hugs...

Hi Cathy,

I admire and respect you so much.  You have handled this illness with such bravery and class.  You will be in my prayers for relief and peace.  I hope that you can stay in touch and let us know how you are doing.  Otherwise we will know you are fighting as always.  I am with the others, my heart is breaking for you and I want to tell you how much I have appreciated your support over the last few years.  You gave me and others so much courage and understanding.  God is with you, take hold of His hand. He loves you and so do I.

By now the methadone should have taken effect.  I hope it's helping you.  Others I've known have said it's really helpful, really helped them become more functional.  I pray it's similar for you.
I hope you are filling your days with good things and good people.  I'm with you in prayer.  Keep up your spirits and I as always, admire you for your tenacity.

(((Cathi))) I think about you every time I come here and wonder how you are doing. I am so sorry to hear this latest news. There are not adequate words to provide the comfort you need. What courage you have demonstrated all these years. We are so enriched by your example. MK is right when she says it is choice between quanity and quality. I can't imagine how difficult it must be to come to this point. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the days and weeks ahead are less painful for you and you can have quality time with your family. Hugs and love, Lauri
