it is really good to see posts from new people who are fighting mets.  We have had many members who tend to shy away when mets are diagnosed, as they are frightened of scaring away the "newcomers" to the board.

To me, the stage 4 fighters are an inspiration to others, the heroes in our midst.  Just look at Jackie's (bandlady's) post!  Wow!  I am blessed to be NED for so many years now, but I have so much admiration for those among us who just keep fighting...and LIVING!, as Jackie said.

And too, the stage 4 fighters need support, which is what the boards are all about.  For all the support they have given us these many years, for us to give some of that back is a gift in itself.

Cincy, we have actually had group get-togethers right here in town (I'm in Cincy, too.)  Our first meeting was cincy-based, and I'm afraid to say...was it 1999???  Could it have been that long ago?  So hard to believe!  Some of our members were stage 4 at the time...and some are still with us, these many years later... now, how could that scare a newcomer!

So I'm hoping you ladies will keep coming back, keep posting, and most of all, keep fighting.

Take care...

Hi  Bev...

I was at the 1st gathering so many yrs ago but I was stage 2 at the time, going thru my 1st round of chemo.I was bald then, and I am bald now!!....LOL

I have been stage 4 for the last 5-6 yrs. I have done all the chemo they thought I should. Although I am not Cancer free, I am still here, fighting the fight !!

I have got so much of my strength from the wonderful ladies on this board. Although I dont post much anymore, I used to be very active . Those of you who are newly diagnosed with Cancer or just been told that you are stage 4, stay and post and give and take all you can from this group of
inspirational ladies. Some of these wonderful ladies are no longer with us, but are certainly here
in spirit.

Bevie, thanks for the great post. Your being NED is an inspiration to all of us !!!

I love you my friend....

Hugs, Cathi

PS...I think it was the year 2000, but I can be wrong. Boy do I have ChemoBrain. smhair confused

I tried to Google the picture up from the newspapers and couldn't find it anymore. My grand daughter was graduating from High School and that was the reason I was going to the Cincy area. She has since finished college in pre med and medical school and is in her first year of residency. But that doesn't help figure out the date. I think it was 1999 because I think it was not but a few months after I began posting. That was when my daughter was first diagnosed in February. I was able to get around normally then. I had my major surgery in Jan 2000 and I think the meeting in St Louis was after that in the fall. I was moving ok then, but by St Louis I was having more trouble getting around. Anyhow man of us have been together through thick and thin since 1999. What wonderful friends we have made.

Cathi it is always great to hear from you. I hope you are pain free and able to enjoy time with your kids and grandkids. Love you.

Hugs to all
MK

Oh, Cathi, do you think I could forget that you were just going through that first round of chemo back then? Actually, I was referring to Cindy. She only made the lunch at the Greyhound Inn?? Haven't seen a post from her in awhile, but she has popped in from time to time. I know she's always posted that she is traveling and spending time with the grandbabies, but I still think about her and hope all is well.

And it is SO GOOD to see you post, girl! And that was a wonderful weekend.

Take care, and let us know how you're feeling!

Loveand hugs...

Oh, how fun that get together was.  It seems like it was only this past May and not 8 years ago.

Cindy was there the whole time, she brought her husband and daughters with her. Didn't Becky and Angela come from Louisville just for lunch? And it seems Patty Von Hagan just came for lunch with her daughter, too. Oh that we could turn back the clock!!!! Although I am sure my grand daughter would not like to repeat those last eight years.

oh..and JoAnnie was there for part of the weekend. Bevie brought her along and it seemed like we knew her forever even though she had not been to the board. That sure changed after that weekend. JoAnn came from Texas..I remember her showing up while we were having dinner at the Chinese restraunt. She walked in with a cowboy hat..she didnt have to say a word. I knew instantly it was JoAnn !!!!  It was such a nice sized group for a get together with hardly any planning....

What wonderful memories :-)

Love

Cathi
