Hello to everybody!
I am writing for first time and I am desparate. My Mom/73 years old/ had mastectomy 3 years ago with HER2+ stageII.
Two months ago she has been diagnosed stage IV with mets in the bones- lower back, hips, ribs and shouder. She is on a treatment - hormonotherapie, biphosphonates - once a month, radiation 4 times a month and Femara- daily. She never has had chemotherapy and and when we ask the doctor he keeps telling us that chemo is not effective for the bones, only for the soft tissues. She is in great pain! and her tumor marker raises very fast. I cry all the time and do not know how to help her. Please advice! Please, if anybody could advice some kind of nuritions, herbs or supplements that could strenght her body. What do you think about Essiac formula? or Medicine Mushrooms?or CoQ10? or Shark liver extract? Does anybody take any natural supplements that may help?

Do you know Dr Michael Lam- he offers consultation on the phone about nutritions or alternative natural supplements but before the conversation they want your credit card datas to charge every 15 min 30 $. To give my cc datas this way seems to me unsafe.

All survivors:I admire your courage!

I have a strong history of a breast cancer /aunt and mom/ and I am very scared for myself too.I am 40 and have a boy 20 years old and a girl -10 yaers old.  Already have been diagnosed with cysts in my both breasts and on the left side have burning pain on the breast and shoulder already more than a year.

Please advice! Any information will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Has your mother's doctor considered giving her Herceptin? It can be useful in treating mets to the bones. A friend of mine (who has now passed on) took Herceptin for several years after her recurrance spread to bones and soft tissue. I am not familiar with alternative medical treatments. You may find information on the Internet. I am not familiar with the doctor you mention either, but would be cautious of giving anyone I was not sure of my credit card number. My best advice is be supportive of your mother. Give her lots of love and attention right now. Good luck. Lauri
