Sorry you probably get many posts like this one...I just wanted to express my concern regarding a lump in my breast.

I've had this particular lump for a number of years now. I don't ever remember "finding" it, I just remember being concerned about it when I was around 14. My mum and I went to the doctor, he examined me and assured me it's nothing to worry about. I don't recall his exact explanation though. I'm nearly 18 now and it's still there. The lump is in my right breast, it's very firm, and on the side close to the middle of my chest. Every so often there is sharp pain in that breast, and it is also slightly larger than the other.

I'm thinking of going back to the doctor...just for some reassurance...or to act on anything problematic.

Does anyone have any thoughts? I can't help the worry. Does what I've described sound "normal"...or serious? :s

Thankyou

Yes!!! It is time to see another doctor about this lump. Notice I said another doctor. At 18 it is time to have a good examination anyhow. Do you have your own insurance or are you still in school and on your parents? No lump in the breast is normal, however, they aren't automatically cancerous, either. In fact 80% are benign. You need to see an expert to check it out, perhaps a mammogram or sonogram will be ordered. Let us know. Hugs MK

Thanks for the reply. I just graduated from high school last month, so I'm still pretty much dependent on my parents at this stage. We have Medibank Private insurance though. I will make an appointment and let you know how it goes. Thanks xo
