So sorry to hear about the return of your mom's cancer. Your mom's oncologist is the best one to give you time lines, but honestly there is just no way to know that. We have friends who have done very well with chemo to treat mets. Others have not done so well. It really depends on the agressiveness of the cancer and how well it responds to treatment. Another key factor, in my opinion, is your mom's attitude. If she has the determination to fight this thing, all the better. Good luck to you and to your mom. Those of us who have lived with this disease will tell you that the effect it has on our loved ones is the hardest part of having it. So put on your best game face and convince your mom that you are there to help her fight.

Hi, Oraca... I so understand you! I'm very close with my mom and she was diagnosed a few month ago with lung cancer stage IV (with metastazes to backbone).
She is going through chemo now, they didn't do any operations for her (it is impossible).
We got a juicer for her and she is taking fresh veggies and fruits juices everyday - that's most important thing is to keep the body strong (celery, spinach, currot, cranberries, pommergranate, blueberries). I went to and just got few books about nutritions which will help best. Also, I read a lot about ginseng, so I bought couple of boxes for her as well..
You know, the doctors can't tell exactly how long patient will leave, it is all very individually. I've read stories that some patients was given only couple of month but they alive few years later.. Well, few years is not enough anyway, we want our moms to live forever.. I hope your mom will be a miracle patient, who will leave longer then anybody would think. Just watch over her, little exersices, fresh and nutritious food, fresh air - and let the body do the rest.
Write me if you need to talk to someone.
Take care.
