Hello again,
I wrote earlier asking for help with my diagnosis of BC (infiltrating ductal carcinoma, Ductal Carcinoma in-situ in my breast as well as metastatic adnocarcinoma in my lymph)  The good news is so far they believe it is only in one lymph.  That I have to believe is good news and that the lymph is not embedded and moves easily.
I was diagnosed on Friday at 3:30 pm and had an appointment with a surgeon on Monday.  She was wonderful and spent 2 hours with my husband, myself and my mother explaining how things work in this scary new world.  I now have an appointment with Sloan Kettering in NYC for the 26th.  The doctor I have an appointment with did surgery on another person that my mother knows and was very pleased.
The weekend, right after diagnosis, is so scary.  Don't get me wrong, I am scared of the scans I will have to do, if something is found somewhere else, but, I at least feel a little more in control.
Thank you for all your great advice.  I had a list typed up of questions and have had quite an education over the past 5 days.
Has anyone else gone to Sloan?  What was your experience?
Thank you for also letting me know you will be there to help me on my journey.
Chris

Hi Chris: I'm sorry about your diagnosis, but glad that you are feeling a bit more in control. I work at Sloan-Kettering and would be happy to help you get you in touch with some women who have been treated here for breast cancer.

Best of luck, Ellen

Dear Ellen

Thank you so much for your offer.  I would love to get in touch with some women who have gone through this.  I am going to see Dr. Elisa Port.  I wanted to know for my family if there are any places for them to stay around there that are more economical than the ones listed on the Sloan site.

I am SOOO happy you responded.  I am nervous about going to the city but hope that it will be the best decision I have ever  made.

Chris
