After reading some of the posts I have a few questions/ concerns.
about 11 years ago I was diagnosed with DCIS. At my post surgery appt. (after giving me the all clear on the phone) my Dr. told me this was a precancerous condition. At that time he recommended that Tamoxifen although he said there were side effects. He did not suggest that I see an oncologist or any other treatments. Frankly the side effects I read about with Tamoxifen scared me more than the word "precancerous". So I opted not to take it and followed up with a yearly mammogram and self exams.
Now I wish I would have taken someone else with me to that appt. Maybe they would have asked questions that I had not.
I had a mammo about a year and a half ago where I was called back for a follow up. After the second view were taken they said it was only scar tissue that they were seeing. A few months later I found a small lump under my arm and mentioned it to my gyno when I was there scheduling a hysterectomy. She felt it too and suggested another mammo. I eneded up with a sonogram and they could see nothing. I got the feeling that they thought I was paranoid...three mammo and a sonogram in just three months. rolleyes
Now the thing under my arm is a visible lump the size of a grape and I can feel a lump in my breast no where near my initial surgery site. I have been putting off another mammo because of how they made me feel the last time.
I am seeing my doctor next Tuesday on a totally unrelated issue. But I now think it has become the MAJOR issue.
I had no idea how many times mammos and unltrsounds could be so wrong. I also wish that I would have put more weight on the original DCIS diagnosis.

You are not being paranoid, despite how the drs act. Remember, they don't live with your decisions, so you are smart to pursue this! Perhaps you can find a breast center and get in ASAP. You might have to travel a bit, but they will be able to do so much for you! We have women all over the world on the board, so if you care to leave the name of a city nearby you, perhaps someone will be able to recommend a center or a good breast doc. Keep pushing for answers! Swollen lymph nodes need to be addressed, as does the lump in your breast.

All best wishes, and please come back and let us know!!!

Thank you for your kind words.
I will let you know what the doctor says after I have my appt on Tuesday. I am sure I will have lots of questions should the need arise. But for now... I am trying not to worry until there is something to worry about. ....Words I have seen many times in the last few weeks that I have been reading posts.
