I spent the last four days in Fort Meyers, FL area.  It certainly was beautiful there, lots of good food, and partying.  I was there to attend my husband's brother's daughter's wedding, my neice, in other words.  She met her husband in FL a couple of years ago, and he was from the area of OH I lived in.  She lived in OH, too, but in another area.   What a small world, I saw many of the students I served while working in the school cafeteria.  A couple of the women were in my daughter's class and one of the guys in my son's class.  What a small world we live in.  It was a wonderful weekend full of family love and friendships. Mostly his family.  Sadly, my neice's mother's side of the family chose not to go to Florida for the wedding because they thought she should come back home to Ohio to be married.  It was their loss.  I was soooo glad I went to represent some of HER family.  Her mother, father, brother, a cousin in the wedding party and a cousin and family living in FL were the only family members there, besides my daughter, her husband and son and I.  Why do people behave so ridiculously?  There was no reason on this earth her maternal grandmother wasn't there, except to show her disapproval of her choice to have the wedding where she has lived and worked for the past seven or eight years. It was a beautiful wedding and there were many, many friends there to celebrate.  It was her grandmother's loss. I just can not understand how a grandmother could not attend her 30 year old grand daughter's wedding. Life is so short. We know that here.  Hugs MK

Ah the old school. You can not fight it. The older members of the mediteranean area live by rules. I can hear it now. Exact words would go something like this " Managa, I told you no good would come of this going off and working. A young unmarried woman should live under her fathers roof until she is married. See where this got you. Now she is having her wedding in Florida. What will everyone say. OH yes I am sure these were just about the words. Glad it was nice and you had a great time. Hugs Joyce
People are like tea bags, you have to put them in hot water to see how  strong they are!

Yes, glad you had fun, MK. It sounds wonderful. I know. I can't believe the things people do. And, I might add, I have done my share of things I'm not so proud of. It was great of you to go and be with her. I know I would have been hurt if my family hadn't shown up. L&H, Di

Sometimes it is a slender thread, Sometimes a strong,
stout rope; She clings to one end, I the other;
She calls it friendship; I call it hope....
