Hey everybody
I've been up all night reading some of the old threads.  It's a bit overwhelming how many of us there are. I have decided I am going to have a port.  I've heard too many votes for yes than no, so....I know you girls know what you're talking about.  I have a few questions that I wondered about reading all this.
1)  what is PCE
2)  what is it about the pink boas?  I know pink is our color, but...
3)  where can i get one of those magnetic pink ribbons to put on my car.
I go this morning at 9am for my bone scan, then surgery first thing in the morning.  I'm very nervous, can't sleep...My mind was occupied during the holidays, but on saturday and sunday, it really hit me.  I started getting depressed.  Went home early from work on Saturday, didn't work on Sunday.  I could not face it.  I really broke down.
Have any of you girls gotten together before?  That would be neat for all of us to get together once in a while.
Wish me luck ladies, I'll get back with you as soon as possible. And thanks for all your encouraging words.  They mean a lot to me.  Talk to you soon.

PCE is the Pink Cloud Express, our imaginary jet that takes us to be at the side of those going through dr appointments, treatments, surgery or anything else that finds our sisters in need of our cyber comfort. The pink boas are a fuzzy pink boa to wrap around ourselves and some have been known to leave a bit of feathers or fuzz behind as they come to sit at your side during your moments or hours of need. I got a pink magnetic ribbon for Christmas and my daughter got it through the Dillard's store in our area.

Yes we have been getting together since May of 2000. Our first meeting was held in Cincinnati, then the following October we met in St. Louis. I think the next meeting was in San Antonio May 2001 and then Myrtle Beach Oct 2001. There was a meeting in Las Vegas in the spring of 2002, Myrtle Beach again Oct. 2002. I think another small group met in Las Vegas again in 2003. But then we did not get together until May 2004 in Louisville. Probably a group meeting will be held in May again. We had talked about a fall group in 2004 but it just didn/t work out. Many of us have been in this group since 1999 and 2000. You can see our Louisville pictures in the Roll call. Look for a post under my name and you will find them and get an idea about our group.

Hi, Tamaralynn. MK gave you the information you were looking for, I think. Someone on anothe bc board mentined that the Susan B. Komen foundation has the magnetic pink ribbons. You might try their on-line site.  My daughter gave me one for Christmas, but I also found then at a truck stop/restaurant in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Go figure. BTW, our gatherings are awesome events. We have such a great time. I sure hope we can manage one this spring. I need some real hugs.
Good luck with the bone scan today. I hope it comes back clean and clear. Take care, Lauri

Hi Tamaralynn:
re:  the pink ribbons:  they don't all donate to bc research, if that's why you want one.  Hallmark sell some that say "I care" on them, and they do donate to the cause.  I had my supermarket take theirs off the shelf because  they were in a plain box, no contribution noted on the display.  I'll tell them about the above foundation, and get them to sell those.
They go on the PCE, I take the mustang.  I had a time once, when I was going to the breast surgeon, where I beat a beamer!!!  don't know if you read that post.  Had fun writing that one "things I learned today" it was called.  It was a pretty interesting ride!
My Bone scan was ok.  I hope you don't get too worried.  I'll be there with you, just firing up the pistons now!

Sounds like you need PCE tomorrow. Pink Cloud Express was born somewhere in my warped brain. It started out as a bus. This mode of travel quickly became the pitts. When we had ladies all over the place having procedures done the same day. I went to bed and got up with an airplane. Next we have musical instruments we bring. Then we started grabbing pink boas. Sara took that to the next level, by actually visiting someone and leaving feathers from her boa behind. Not imaginary. That part did happen. It has helped a lot of our girls feel not so alone. In that time you are without anyone, be it the operating room or test area, just think about all of us. We are with you in spirit. It has helped quite a few, because they know they are in a place all the others have been and they understand like no one else will ever be able to. Tomorrow if you feel alone, just give us a thought.... It has worked for more than one. L&H Joyce

Hi Tamaralynn, I found a website that had the pink ribbons for your cars and I got one that says "Survivor" on it. I don't know how much they donate with the profits, I do know they donate money to the troops for the patriotic ribbons. Anyone interested it is on  I have sent them an e-mail asking if they donate to breast cancer from the sale of the pink ribbons. The only reason I bought from them is I wanted the survivor on it.

I will be on the PCE with the rest of these lovely ladies. Rita sent me a pink boa for Christmas so I will be bringing that too! Look for a pink feather when you are out of surgery! You are in my prayers sweetie. You will get through this, it just takes time.

Our get-togethers are great! Maybe you can make it to the next one! Well, we are holding your hand and will try not to be our noisy selves! LOL! L&H, Gail
