I'm 44 and just had my first mammogram on the 24th of may.
I got called back the next day for more xrays which i think they did 10 pics by mammo and then had me get an ultra sound. They did say i have dense breast. I know sooner got home and was called back for another ultrasound and they found what they are calling a lymph node on the inside of my left breast. I did have blood work done as well and they said my CA125 levels were elevated, so now they are sending to a surgeon on the 23th of June. I am deeply troubled about going and having any more testing done, because ever since i've had the mammo, my left breast area hurts to the point of living on tylenol even my breast bone hurts, i was fine before the mammo. I do have some cysts in there but i've never had any problems with my babies till now. If anyone has experinced this please give me some feed back as i am very fearful of going to the surgeon i really don't know what to expect and i dont know if the mammo as caused me some type of trauma to my breast.

Hi Roobles

I think it is probably the mammogram that has made your breast sore as that sometimes happens to me also. I know it is very concerning and worrying to be sent to the surgeon but it doesn't mean the worst. He will explain what they have found in laymans terms so you understand, and ask him as many questions as you can. It is a good idea to write down some questions before you go because when you get in there, if you are anything like me you will forget everything that was in your head.

Try not to worry too much, my thoughts and prayers are with you. After the surgeon's visit make sure you post to let us know how you got on. I'll be thinking of you.

When I turned 40 I had a mammogram that was so painful it left me bruised.  Then, since I had a small cyst, I was talked into an aspiration which I couldn't afford at the time and spent a whole year paying for.  So I didn't go back for 20 years.
Finally at 60 I did get another mammogram and insisted they stop pushing when it got too painful.  They CAN do that now!  A couple of years later I had a small IDC.  I was just lucky nothing came up in the years I didn't get checked.
