My onc said that my ct scans, chest xray, and bone marrow scans are so clear that they are boring. Yea and Hooray.
We discussed the problems that I am having with Femara, extreme lower back and hip pain along with losing about 2/3rds of my hair. He is putting me on Arimidex and I have to see him in 3 months.
If the Arimidex doesn't give me the problems, I will be on it for one year. If I have problems with Arimidex, then I will stop it in three months. The end result, in either case, is that when I get to 10 years, I won't have to take those meds any more.
And having completed my Jan. yearly onc visit, I get to bump my survival years to 9yrs/5yrs. I would also like to give special hugs to all those who knew me when I was 4/0. Look how far and how long you have carried me.
I think the onc is familiar with our board procedures for appointments, tests, whatever since he didn't blink an eye at the pink feathers on the floor.
Lori - I had the nails done Fri. She does such a nice job. They also did all three tests in one day, Thursday. I know what you mean about wanting off Tamoxifen.
Love, Jo-Ann

Dear Jo-Ann,

Since I first came to the board a little over 5 years ago, you continue to remain a positive force in my life.  From the first day that you reached out to me a newbie then, to this day hearing of your remarkable test results, gives me hope for my future.  I am so thrilled that you had a great manicure!  And yes, a picture of my kids is on its way to you soon.  Much love and many hugs to you, Christi.

(((Jo-Ann))), boring is so GOOD!  Glad everything is over and that you are now 9 and 5.  Keep doing what you're doing.  Enjoy those new nails, too.  Love, Luci

OH JoAnn....I have to agree, boring is not a word I would associate with you but YIPPEE for boring results! I am so glad that is over and wish you luck on Arimidex. This board is very blessed by having you here, you have helped us more than you will ever know. We love you JoAnn, so here's to many more years of boring scans and great results!

Boring scans are a GOOD thing, hooray! Glad all is well once again and you have beautiful nails to go with it.

I first 'met' you when you returned from the hospital with your 2nd mast, which was just as I was beginning my journey. 5 years is something, ain't it?

Wow, nothing like hearing your scans are ho hum. I am so glad to hear this. I think I am calling onc. today and changing. I am not happy with Femara. Tamox. was making me miserable enough but femara has kicked my misery up to a whole new level. Love to hear you got your nails done. Love it. Joyce

Just wait til that hair starts growing again and you go get it done all the time along with the nails. LOL. Remember when we met? You were needing scans done and did not want to call and make the appointment. You were so afraid of what you would hear. I screamed at you in cyberspace and told you it could be good news and you were doing all that worrying about nothing, get it done then worry if you needed to. Well, the news was not exactly good, you did have a little microcalcification which made you decide to get rid of that second breast. The next few weeks were pure hell for you, the surgery, losing Mitchell and going through all the misery you went through with his mother, the kids and on and on. But look, five years later, you are living in a cute little teeny tiny house in teeny tiny town, and you seem so much happier even though you still miss Mitchell and always will. But you have those darling grandchildren nearyby, your health is looking better cancer wise, and the rest of it depends on behaving and minding your diet, etc. Look who's talking????? Anyhow, I am so happy for you, my dear, dear friend. I know you never, ever expected to hear words like you heard yesterday. It was great. I hope you gave that doctor a big hug. I can't wait to give you one. Love you, MK

Yay for you!!! Like the others, I would never include you in a sentence with the word "boring." I'm so happy for you that testing is over for another year. Way to go, girlfriend!

Hey, girl,

What a lovely post to read. Yeah, I remember your second diagnosis. That was a bad time in a lot of ways. So very glad that your tests were so ho-hum. Let's hope the Arimidex will treat you better. Femara is kicking my knee joints BAD, so I'm going to talk to my onc about switching also. Tell me about this stopping everything after 10 years. What did your onc tell you about that? In my pre-bc days, I used to be so brave and fearless, but I wonder if I'll ever feel comfortable again just hanging out there without meds (sigh).

Anyway, congrats and love to you - Glenda

Hi Jo-Ann

So glad that things are okay ! That is SO wonderful. I hope the Arimidex has no side
effects for you.

Love and hugs

Always good to read of clear, boring scans.  You are doing so great these days.  Keep up the good reports and we maybe both of us will celebrate 10 years Cancer free.

Good news, I'm so glad for you, I got results from my tests back today, too. Of course, I'm a newbie too, so i haven't been thru anything like you have. But glad to hear you are boring.
