In addition to end of summer visits from the girls and granddaughter. My grandpuppy, Sasha, had surgery on Wednesday to remove her spleen and a very large (bigger than a softball, smaller than a basketball) tumor attached to it. We should get results tomorrow as to whether or not it is cancer. My daughter brought her back here for the surgery. She had to head back to school today (12 hours away), so we are keeping little Sash until she gets her staples out. Then I had my hubby take our much beloved Rottie to the vet about two weeks ago because I thought he was working hard to breathe. Vet pronounced him perfectly healthy. I've been watching him, still concerned, while my hubby told me I was crazy, I was just imagining things because of Sasha and her situation. Friday I called the vet and insisted they look at him again. As the vet said to me, "You can't argue with a mother's instinct." He has some pulmonary edema, pleural effusion, and maybe congestive heart failure. He's in the hospital so they can get rid of some of the fluids on his chest and hopefully be able to tell what the root cause of the problem is. Could be any of several things, including tumors in either the lungs or heart. So that's been my last couple of weeks in a nutshell.

So send good thoughts this way for Sasha and Pudge.

Love and hugs to the breast friends...

Oh Bev, sorry to hear about your pets. It is so hard when they are ill. Of course sending lots of good thoughts for Sasha and Pudge. Keep us informed.

Grandpuppy turned out to be just fine. Her tumor was benign. Pudgie did not have such good news. He had a very large osteosarcoma that was displacing his heart and his trachea. We brought him home for a week and tried to keep the fluids in check with diuretics. They weren't doing a hot job of it. So we spoiled him rotten for a few days (he never lost his appetite!) and said our goodbyes. He was a wonderful beast of a dog, and his loss has left a very large hole in our lives.

Sasha is back to her old self... ornery little thing! Took our retriever out and ditched her in the woods. Faye is a retired seeing eye dog, and let me tell you, it must have been the blind leading the blind, because that dog couldn't find her way out of a paper bag! She was trying to get a drink from a neighbor's pool (distant neighbor, at that!), fell in, and couldn't get herself out. So our neighbor had to get in and haul her out. OMG. She and Sasha aren't allowed out at the same time, because this is the second time Sasha has ditched her! But Sasha scooted out the door on me, and the rest you know now. Life goes on at my house.

Love and hugs to all the breast friends...
