I have seen this at least seven times since last night when she held her news conference.  Each time I am amazed and overwhelmed with wonder at the calmness and the heroic way she handled herself and the situation.  If you haven't seen anything about this story yet I hope you will.  The reason I am mentioning it here is because so often we talk about the purpose some of us have left this life way too soon and the purpose of those of us left behind.  She was reading a book which is spiritual in nature called "The Purpose Driven Life".  I am thinking I need to get a copy of this book to read.  Has anyone here read it or learned about it?  Hugs MK

I was totally amazed, as I sat and listened to this young lady's story last night (and several times today). For one so young to have so much inner strength and calmness....She is a true hero in my eyes. I believe that each of us in put on this earth for a special purpose. Some of us are fortunate enough to realize what that is while we are here. This young lady knows hers and I wonder how many lifes she saved by sharing her story and testimony with the killer/rapist. The tears flowed down my cheeks as I listened to her tell about her dh being stabbed and dying in her arms. Where is her dd? I haven't been able to understand why she was going to visit her.

I hope that this young lady gets the credit that she is due and I also hope that the media will allow her to have her privacy.

Hugs

Deb

MK, I saw it and all I can say is WOW. I too kept wondering where the daughter was? Anyway, I have the book Purpose Drive, but have not started on it. Our entire church studied this book before I joined so I am a little behind, but I have it! I think it is a very spiritual book and what I would consider "heavy" reading. I plan to start on it this spring when we go camping, I figured there I would have less intruptions.

Last night on Larry King there were several guests who talked about this case. A minister of hers said again she had been through some really rough times in her life. He has been her counselor, etc. Anyhow he said the daughter is living with her aunt and uncle. She lost custody of her through some of the rough times, but he said she is about to regain custody. He said he did not want to go into her details, but said she is a wonderful young woman who had a rough childhood and had lived through some rough circumstances. Since her husband was stabbed and died in her arms I am thinking........ well, I will let everyone have their own thoughts. But, yes, I feel she saved some lives which was her intent. She gave a statement last night asking that everyone give her some time to get over this ordeal. What a woman. We will probably hear much more about her. I hope her life turns around and she has some really good breaks. It sounds like she will be getting the reward for turning in this man, so possibly that will really help her. Hugs. MK

I was telling my dd that I wanted to buy the book today and she looked at me like I had lost what little of my mind I have left. She reminded me (I swear that I didn't know) that we had 2 copies of the book and that my other dd had taught this at their church. Well, duh. How the heck was I to know that? lol I tried to start reading it during chemo today but everyone wanted to look thru the book, so I gave up.

I have heard that this gal will definitely get the $60,000 reward money and that she has been receiving offers for book deals as well as a movie. Sounds as though her money problems may soon be over. I sure hope so.

I received the book for Christmas and have been reading it, but as usual , I am also in the middle of about 4 others. I will get back to it. It was being studied in one of our Sunday school classes but I don't know what others thought of it. I am amazed at her myself. I can't imagine how anyone would feel if we were being help hostage. Maybe a lot like going in for a cat scan. ? I think she is wonderful too and yes I hope she receives a reward and privacy. Hugs all around, Di
