Hi Ladies,

Thanks so much for asking..The day started out ok. I started out doing Aredia..a 2 hour drip. Then  on to the Taxotere.

By the way I took the Decadron last night and again this
morning. Then I started Xeloda this morning. I started getting really thirsty and urinating constantly.Seeing that I have Diabetes they took my Sugar level..well it was in "hi Critical "
range which means well over 500...Mine was some where
near 575-600. Well that caused alot of comotion in the cancer center,They Immediately gave me a shot of insulin. We took a test again 2 hrs later and it hadnt changed so gave me another shot. Now the talk of admitting me...WRONG..so they gave me instructions on how to give myself injections which is fine. I will be doing it 3-4 times a day. Had to call the Doc at 9:00pm with the readings. It was going down...496.If it was over 500 I would have to have been admitted.Although she still sounded like she wanted me in....but I said if still bad in morningwhen I call her at 9:00am I will...By the way normal readings for me is between 100-120.The Decadron is causing the problems but dont want me to stop it because  my side effects from the chemo will
be alot worse without steroids.

Well, Thanks for everything...all your support is great and boy does My sister Marilyn enjoy you all.

Love and hugs,

Cathi

{{{{Cathi}}}} I am sorry to hear this is causing you the problem with your Diabetes. I pray that it gets lower and lower and you do not have to go into the hospital. I'm sending you {{{{{{gentle hugs}}}}} dear friend. Love you sweetie, Gail

Cathi, so glad to see you are able to post. Did you squeeze Marilyn for me? I am so glad she was able to be with you yesterday. Tell me the truth. How many of our feathers did we leave behind? With all those boas in the room it looked like a bunch of pink flamingos had landed in ohio. I will be anxious to see how you are this morning. Even if they put you in for a day or two to get your sugar under control you know we will be with you. I am not sure with your sugar that high and getting all that treatment you should be home all by yourself. Love and hugs, Joyce

Shoot, I thought the thirst was caused by the dry air created by all our pink boas floating around, along with the general noisy chatter! Dang diabetes! I just hope you get the break that you deserve, and that this treatment is kind to you and works its magic on the cancer.

Lori

I have heard that the decadron wreaks havoc on your sugar levels. Have they said when they would try chemo? Good luck. Keep us posted

Cathi:

So sorry about the diabetes stuff.  It is always something.  While in the hospital last week my sugar levels went way up.  They kept telling me it was normal because of the stress of ER, hospital and surgery.  Well, it is still not in good control.  I have never had great control because I am in denial most of the time, but it never went hi-critical.  Please stay diligent with your injections sweetie.

I do pray that your treatments bring you to better health.  Hang in there.

Love and hugs,

Candy

{{Cathi}} Hope your sugar levels are down this morning. I pray that this does the trick for you and you have an easy time of it. Even though it does't sound like it starting out that way. Take care of yourself and watch that sugar. You will be in my prayers dear sister.

OMG Cathi, I don't want to believe that you had readings like that! That is so frightening. Please don't fight going to the hospital where they can watch you. My grandmother went into diabetic comas when I was a child and I remember them too vividly. I really think sugar levels are affected by much more than food intake in all of us, especially if the pancreas is trying to give out on us. Please be super careful. Love and hugs and prayers, MK

I hope your levels are better.  I was away, so I didn't know what was going on.  I'll be thinking about you, MK is right, let them watch you if they want to, you can always hoard up on moisturizer!!!

Hi Cathi, just wanted to add my good wishes to the others. The high blood sugar levels are scary stuff, so do take care. Hugs, Lauri

Cathi,
I hope you can feel the hug I am giving you. I know you don't want to go into the hospital, but please watch this carefully and go if you feel bad. I am so sorry. Why is there this cancer diabetes connection? Isn't one enough!!!!!!!!
Love you hon, Di

{{{Cathi}}} What a day is right! So glad the sugar level is coming down. Will be praying as you go through the week that the side effects from the chemo will not be bad. You're a strong woman, my friend, and beneath our pink feathers you will find a lot of support from your breast friends.

Love you,
Becky
