Hearing my onc's RN strongly encourage me to get some exercise, and mentioning how quick and easy Curves is, I took the plunge. They had a special for March where the sign up fee was 50% off. I think I can do this, it is close to home and the lack of major time commitment is what appealed to me. And I need the structure, and like the idea that there are women of all shapes and sizes  and ages...

Today we did a weigh in (yikes!) and measurements.  I figured that the weight should start to come off in the summer when the Tamoxifen is done, but at least I can take an active role in my health.  I think that is the other reason for me to do this...I will lose the Tamoxifen and taking care of my body is one of the things I can still do myself.

Now, if I could give up Taco Bell or Toll House cookies....

Lori, you are too funny.  I know what you mean about giving up the things we like though.  I have the best of intentions, until it comes to lunch time.

Hope you like Curves.  Everyone that I know who joined, really did like it.  I've thought of it and if I get a better work schedule maybe I will take the jump.  May have to wait a while now, but I need to do this for me.

Let us know how you do.

Dear Lori...if you only knew that we are all so jealous of your "tubby" (HA!!!) little figure!!! While I admire your spunk, I wish I had the time to exercise! Like kitty, I've heard nothing but good things about Curves from friends who have joined. Don't lose more than a couple of ounces though...a good puff and wind and we could lose you!!!

Love and hugs, sweetie...

I know you will love it. DD joined and lost more inches than pounds. She did not really need to lose the weight just firm up what she had. She loves it. Her husband has been known to say he likes it also. LOL good luck and enjoy. Wish I could get motivated. Love and hugs Joyce
How wonderful it would be to see Angels where there are only clouds. How sad it would be to see clouds where there are Angels.

Yes, firming up is a good thing. Bev, you are too sweet to think that I am so tiny, but since doing chemo, I have added about 25# to my tiny frame. I am optimistic that when I finish Tamoxifen, the pounds will come off, but no reason for me not to help it along. I have never ever worked out, except for one summer in college. I hate it. And I do not have time, which is one of my excuses. But, they are 2 miles from my house...so I can go there and back and do the whole she-bang in under an hour, and I think I can do it.

We'll see though, once lawn mowing and yard work begins, but I just gotta do something.

Lori

Lori, I desperately need to get my butt moving and do something about the weight I have gained since chemo. I pass about 4 Curves each day on my way back and forth to work. Let me know how you like it. I need to exercise too and can't seem to make myself do it. Good luck

yeah  Wow,
Thanks for all of the publicity girls! I hope you all like them. I own two Curves in N.W. Indiana with Dean. It has  been a huge blessing in my life. We get wonderful letters from people that have been helped and it touches my heart. Dean and I were ready to purchase our first one, and he was in Texas at Curves camp when I learned that my cancer had returned. We decided to go ahead with it. My dear Dean runs them and we have a manager at each club. He does lots of work though. We also have great girls working for us. I spent a week there in 2000 just before the STL gathering , on chemo, demonstrating exercise equipment. It certainly helped me take my mind off of things. Welcome to the Curves family. Love and Hugs, Di

Hi Di, that is so cool! I had no idea you were involved like that, as an owner! Way to go, girlfriend! Already I was too tired to go after work, but plan to hit it tomorrow before they close. I bought a couple new "activewear" pants, and lordy knows I have enough t-shirts to wear!

The 2 women who worked there that I met were super nice, and I felt pretty comfortable. Felt a little silly on the machines with my clumsiness, but I suppose it will get better over time, I hope...

Lori

Dear Tavish, I can't imagine you being clumsy. You are nearly perfect as I recall. I know what you mean about the wind blowing you away thing. My mom used to say that to me all of the time. I don't think she's really looked at me for awhile. LOL, Di
