Cathi was admitted to the hospital early this morning.  Her sister, Marilyn, called me this evening.  I had called Cathi yesterday and was unable to get in touch with her.
Cathi is not tolerating the new chemo, Taxotere/Zeloda, well at all.  She is completely dehydrated from vomiting and diarrhea.  She has also developed mouth and nose sores and cannot eat any solid foods just yet. She is receiving IV fluids.  Tomorrow the onc. will see her in the morning and discuss in what direction things are going to go given these new circumstances.
Our friend is very ill, everyone.  We need to pray hard so that she has some peace in body and spirit.  I don't think I've ever heard such sadness in her voice as I did this evening.
I will keep you all up to date as I receive news from Marilyn.  Love, Luci

Oh Luci, I am so sorry to hear this! I have been wondering how Cathi was doing. I pray the DR can come up with something that is easier on her, but very effective. When you talk to her please tell her I love her and I am praying for her. Please keep us informed and thank you for being such a good friend to Cathi. You are both very special ladies.
L&H, Gail

Adding my thoughts for a good alternative to this chemo regimen, and as you say, Luci, peace in body and spirit. Cathi is such a fighter.

Thank you for the post, Luci. We have been very concerned for our dear friend. I'm praying that her dr will know what tx is best for our Cathi and will echo your request that she may have peace in body and spirit.

Luci, Thanks for the update. I have missed Cathi around here. Please tell her we are praying for her, loving her and sending gentle hugs. Cathi is such a special lady and I think she needs or more importantly deserves a break. Please tell her we are all praying for her.

Thank you so much Luci, She told me if it did not stop she was going to be admitted. When I was not able to get an answer, I assumed she had gone in. I told her I thought it was a good idea. She could not continue the way she was. Thank you again so very much for letting me know for sure. I have to admit I was quite concerned. Hugs to you and again, thank you so much. Love Joyce

I am so sorry to log on this morning and get this news. Our Cathi has been such a trooper throughout her battle. I HATE that she is once again forced to fight like h*ll! Please give her a hug for me. Sending one for you too, Luci...

Oh dear, I knew Cathi was not feeling well at all and told her to go have a rest, but had no idea dehydration was the problem. I was more concerned with her sugar. I will keep her in my prayers and pray that she gets better really soon. This is not good. She really does need our love and prayers big time. Hugs MK

Crap! I am so sorry to hear that Cathi is not doing as well as expected on the new treatments. I just hope the doctors can alleviate her side effects and find something that works. Sending mega prayers for our friend. Hugs and hope, Lauri

Dear Luci, Please tell Cathi that I am sending lots of good wishes her way.  I hate hearing that she is so sick right now.  When is it ever going to stop?  Just not fair.  Hugs to you too Luci for keeping us posted.  L&H, Christi

There are things that have happened in my life that have hurt deep in my heart. Cathi's reaction to the new meds has reached that spot. I will be sending mega-prayers to my dearest sister. If we could only have a miracle that the dr can find something that will work without being so hard on her body.

I also know that there is no one who knows Cathi who does not love her. I think we need a super prayer day. How about Wed, tomorrow, at 5pm CST?

Love you, Sis, Jo-Ann

Will be praying throughout the day tomorrow. Good idea Jo-Ann.

Please let Cathi, our sweet sister, know I am praying for her and all those that are supporting her.

Peace and better health to her and you Luci (to all of us),

Oh my,

This news just breaks my heart. I sure hope that the doctors can find something that will agree with her and find it quick, she certainly does not deserve to have these problems to deal with.

Wish I could take all of her pain away from her. She is one special sweet lady and is loved by all that comes in contact with her.

Luci, hugs to both of you. This news is so hard to hear.

Thank you Luci for our Cathi update.  I pray her docs find a way for her to have an easier time.  She is really due for a break.  Sending gentle "pink" hugs to you, Marilyn and Cathi.  Love you, Libby
p.s. - that prayer day sounds good Jo-Ann, I'll be there.

Friends are God's way of taking really good care of us.

Oh, CR@P, SH#T, and all of the other words I can't type for fear of getting banned from the Internet. This s*cks big time. Cathi is the LAST person who should be going through this. She has helped so many people on this board and previous boards.

Luci, please tell Cathi we all love her, but don't want to flood her with phone calls. I think she knows anyway. Strong but gentle pink hugs for you, for Cathi, and for all of us.

How about a card shower, everybody????? Maybe we can all send the FUNNIEST cards we can find, for any occasion, just as long as they are funny....what do you think? Cathi would probably appreciate the weird humor in getting a Halloween card right now!

Love you all, Peg V

I have a bad feeling in me.  I do hope that Cathi will bounce back.  She's been so down.  I love you Cathi.  I'm praying

Great idea Peg. I'll hunt for a funny card tomorrow, although right now I don't feel too funny, but I can see her opening a card like that and laughing.
What about the chemo that is new and Tavish told us about it. It's Abraxane. I just looked it up. It's supposed to be less toxic.
Please send my love also. I agree with Peg. I can't post what I'd really like to say. Di

Please give her my love, Luci. She's always in my prayers, but I'll join dear Jo-Ann at 5 CST for a really loud prayer session. She is one of the dearest, sweetest people I've met on this journey. Does she feel up to any phone calls? Well, a card might be better. Please let us know.

Love to you too, Luci - Glenda
