The dr said that my bone density was excellent. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said of the xrays. It seems I have osteoarthritis in the hips and lower spine. In addition, the lower spine has bone spurs. At least I know I'm not imaging the pain.

The answer seems to be that I have to lose weight and can exercise but can't do any back strengthening exercises since they'll just increase the pain.

I want to point out that I didn't have ANY arthritis, osteo or otherwise, when I started b/c treatments. Then, with every successive scan, they mentioned the growing arthritis. I really thought this pain was from the Femara/Arimindex. Thank the Lord for Tylenol3 or I wouldn't be able to stand up to wash dishes and I'm the only person here.

I think that I would like to start a collection of "things they didn't tell us in the brochure". If you would like to add items, just email me.

Hugs, Jo-Ann

Good morning, dear lady,

Glad the bone density study was good, but the other sucks. I'm still think Femara has some side effects that produce joint problems. Of course, since Femara shuts down all estrogen, maybe it just kicks the aging process into overdrive!! Another thing maybe we weren't told about!! Oh well, *itch, *itch. I am approaching my eight year NED mark and I guess I should shut up about anything else. LOL. Anyway, SSDD.

Remember we can't fall apart completely - you haven't visited me yet in N.C. I'm just a half a day from Atlanta!!

Love, Glenda

Osteoarthritis, what a pain! LOL  I have severe osteoarthritis in my knees.  It effects my ability to garden or taking walking vacations.  Actually it just su**s.  If it has itis in it's name it seems to like my body!!!  I didn't have treatments like many of you, but it does run in my family.
I am so happy about your bone density though.  At least you will not shrink to quickly.
It is always something.  Hang in there and skip the dishes once in awhile.

I for one will celebrate osteo arthur anyday over some other choices. I know it is very painful and I am sorry about that, but look at the good side, you can use that as an excuse to have more cave days. Looks like a good cave day coming today, it is very dreary looking here this morning. I have been so bad about reading lately, I hardly notice. Soon as DH gets off midnights I am expecting your visit. I'm afraid it will be a couple more weeks yet, actually I think three. Next Thursday we leave for the weekend in KY and I believe he has scheduled two full weeks off from that time since he has time to burn before his anniversary at work. Then he will be on afternoons again. Looking forward to your visit. Hugs MK

Jo-Ann: Congrats on the bone density outcome. I agree w/ the others, the osteoarthritis s**cks. I agree with you about the Tylenol #3. I honestly believe that bc patients should be given stock in the company that makesT#3. Or at least get one heck of a discount.

Hmmmmm, did I mention to you, one other time, the beauty of paper plates, plastic cups, glasses and utensils? Hit a Dollar Store and stock up. Even when the grandkids come, it sure is easier than washing dishes.

My manipulative therapist is originally from Tx. She practiced there for many years. She still has friends that are in practice in your state. Would you like their names? I swear by this type of treatment. She has been able to keep me moving for quite some time.
