I didn't know that you were close to STL. There is so much in that city to do. During my transplant days there, Dean, my friiend, business partner , boyfriend, now ex fiance, anyway,
and I would go out to dinner and drive around every night. We went through the park Christmas light show 3 times. We never did make it to the hill. With all of my trips, you would think that I'd have made it there.  It's beautiful country too. I'm in for the art museum and Italian food for sure. You don't live in Illinois do you?
That would be great. I love the gardens too and the Muni. I've never been to the Fox Theatre.
I'll see you later. Love and Hugs, Di

Hi Di!  No, I don't live in Ill. I live in Jefferson City, Mo. I am about 120 miles east of St. Louis. I do have a lot of family that lives in St. Louis so we are in and out of there quite often.

At one point in my life, I worked off of Hampton Ave. One of the gals that I worked w/ was Italian and no matter where we went on "The Hill" to eat, it was her cousin or uncle or godfather, etc. that owned the place. Ahhhh, I was in heaven! I also love the Gardens. The Muny and Fox plus the symphony! We don't quite have that type of "culture" in the capitol city. lol I have to make at least 3 trips a year to the zoo. My kids use to think that I was nuts (now they know that I am) but they still go w/ me. At least on one of the trips my cousins will bring their kids and we make a "reunion" day.

Let me know when you are in the area again and we will try and meet.

Hugs...Deb

P.S. For those of you that are wondering about "The Hill". It is the Italian section of St. Louis that has the most fantastic restaurants!

Oh, I wish you were closer. Maybe we can meet someday. But, my DEXH drives me and he just wants to get out of town and the traffic as soon as possible. We make a late morning appointment and hope to leave by 3 or 4. I would love to stay down there for a night and go out. We did one time to the botanical gardens and the zoo. The only reason we have any culture here is because I live near the university. There is nothing in town.
How old are you children? Maybe you will all be in Vandalia or somewhere like that sometime and we could meet.
Glad to talk to you. Love and Hugs, Di

Hi Di! Yes, we will have to make plans to meet. Now, when you speak of Vandalia, are you talking about Vandalia, Mo or Ill? My best friend has a cousin that lives in Ill. In the fall we try and go visit because there is this "garage sale" that is in several counties. We spend about 5 days and have a ball!

My dd's are now 26 and 29. My eldest, Cari, is not married. Is a Paramedic, has her college degree but is working at TJ Max. She has 3 dds..Emma, 10; Gracie, 5; and Hannah, 2. Jennifer is married to a wonderful young man. She has her masters degree and is contracted thru our local school system. She is a speech pathologist. She just gave me my first grandson 2 weeks ago, Noah "The Little Prince"!

Which U are you near? My dd's played soccer agst some Ill teams.

Deb

Hi Deb,
Garage sales, oh dear. I have just loved going to sales for the past two summers. I can't believe how much I have gotten for next to nothing. This year I keep reminding myself that I don't need any more things. I keep trying to empty the house and simpify. Every week the paper calls to me though on Sat. morning and I know Ill go to some.
I was talking about Ill, but realized that was proabably too far for you, but if are there sometime and want to meet that would be terrific and I would be so happy to meet you.
Your family sounds wonderful. Bring lots of pictures.
I live near Eastern Illinois University. This is a small world so who knows. On ivillage I had a friend whose DD ended up here as a theatre major which was what I was.

Di: We will definitely have to set a time to meet. Small world huh? I was also a theatre and English major. My nephew is starting his senior year at the N Y School of Drama. He is unbelievable. I am so proud of him. I plan to spend lots of time in NY cause there's not a doubt in my mind that he will be on Broadway! I am the same way w/ garage sales. I empty the house out and fill it back up. We have city-wide trash pickup in May every yr. You can put out anything that you want. I did a lot of throwing away but then went out and found things that other people had pitched that I wanted (note..not needed) Found a brand new livingroom set, price tags and plastic still on it. It is in my basement now. I love Christmas so I am always looking for decorations and to add to the 300 santas that I have collected. My dd threatens me each weekend if I bring any more Christmas items in. Hey, I start decorating Nov 1. Need lots of things to start that early! lol

Hugs..Deb

Small world for sure. This is incredible. I also have a Santa collection. I hesitate to mention it any more though. My brother gives me one more every year and I really love to see what the new one will be.
I would love to see your nephew on Broadway too. Can't believe another Theatre/English. I didn't think there were that many of us but I keep finding more. Hugs, Di
P.S. We have a city wide dump day also in May. Can't believe all of the excitement around here.

Hi, I was lurking, sorry.  I noticed you talking about Vandalia.  I have a cousin Jerome who lives there.  He's in Vandalia, Ill.  I haven't seen him in years, but it seemed like such a coincidence to hear something about Vandalia.  I hope you two will let us know when you meet.  I'd love to see photos.  I'm envious!!!

L&H,

Rita
