Hi everyone
Thought it was time for me to post again!
The big news is I am now offically retired as from June 10.  I am revelling in not having to watch the clock and being able to do so many things with my DH.
Its two years since my mascectomy and coming up to two years since I started chemo etc. Next appt with surgeon is end of July.  Before that DH and I have a trip to Brisbane to find the sunshine! (its winter here you know!)
I have just been diagnosed with osteoporosis so am on medication for that, as well as an antidepressent and of course Tamoxifen.  I don't like the long term effects of the surgery/radiation - honestly the feelings in the old breast area seem to be worse now - but when I talked to my surgeon last about that he said it takes time for the long term effects to go.
My best wishes to you all - especially the newbies who are starting this journey.  It can be a rough road, but as we all say, it's doable.
Love to you all

Hi Kath it is great to hear from you and especially to know you are retiring. I love retirement. Sometimes I wonder how I ever went to work each day on time and stayed all day. LOL. Yes, it does take a long time for everything to heal. It has been eight years since my mastectomy and reconstruction and I still have crazy aches, itches and zizzles deep inside. It has been five years since my last abdominal surgery after the infection and sometimes, like tonight, I get these terrible itches deep deep in the tissues that can't be scratched or stopped. Sometimes I feel like it will drive me crazy. And yet I am so lucky compared to so many who have had all kinds of treatment and medications that cause problem aches and pains. We do what we gotta do and live with what we gotta live with, I guess. Have fun on the trip. Hugs MK

Hi Kath, nice to see you again! We're cooking here in the US, you must be chilly down there! Congrats on reaching retirement, I am ready now although I have another 30 years left to give...oy vey!

Hang in there, I expect things will continue to improve. And stick around, we miss you!

Hi Kath, I wish I could send you some of this heat. You are going to love retirement. I have to admit that first year took some adjusting. Dh and I had to learn to change. We were so used to doing things a certain way. I went to work after him. He would leave and i would go through the house in a whirl and then shower and get to work. Now I pour the coffee we kind of slowly work our way into the day. One bit of advice I received and makes sense. Start retirement as you mean to go. If you cook three meals a day the first week it will become your new job. Its easier to start out on the right foot than it is to change them later. L&H Joyce
How wonderful it would be to see Angels where there are only clouds. How sad it would be to see clouds where there are Angels.
