Hi all, I did the most stupid thing last night.  I was washing  my wig and I usually put it into a towel and kind of push on it to get the water out.  Well, I must have leaned crooked and pushed and I felt a pop on my right side  lowest rib.  I dont know if it is the rib or the muscle/cartilidge.  It wasnt too bad last night, but it is getting a bit more sore today and tonight.  I don't think anything can be done, do you think I need to call the doc and get it checked?  What a dope.

Oh Vicky! Unfortunately I would say to see the Dr.....better safe than sorry, and if it getting more sore as time goes on, that's another reason to call. I hope it's not, are you taking any advil or tylenol for it? sending healing thoughts your way....

Vick, I would call the doc....it may be something, but it sure warrants being checked out just in case. Even if they do not really treat a rib fx, it is worth it to know if you actually have a fracture or or a pork chop bone.  I vote for the porkchop bone...

And don't beat yourself up over  this, not like you had any control, so it is not fair to call yourself a dope!  nono

Hope it is nothing and the pain goes away quickly...

Lori

Vicky: I agree with the others that you need to call you onco and let them know. I never broke a rib but have had them out of place numerous times...coughing, falling, etc. I go to a manipulative therapist (one of only 3 drs that I would put on a pedestal) and she is able to get them back in place..but she does it very, very carefully. Switching from ice to heat helps w/ the pain.

Gentle hugs...Deb

I thought you were going to say you busted a rib laughing and being proud of that son of yours getting in the newspaper!  Oh, Vic, things never end, do they?  Definately call the doc.  You have nothing to lose and only information to gain.

Ok, I called. Nurse said to take tylenol and try not to aggrevate it. It is not excruciating, but sore. Sleeping was a bit uncomfortable. So, I will take it easy, will tell hubby no backflips, lol.

Just take a tylenol? Are they going to see you for an exam or x-ray?

No back flips or trapeze acts either....

Good thing you called the nurse. I hope the tylenol works and you are up and doing those backflips soon.

I'm a little late weighing in here, so I am wondering how you are feeling today? Did the nurse answer you right away or did she at least consult with the doctor????? I hope you are not hurting. Hugs Mk

Why do nurses think they're in the meds. prescribing business, even if it is an over-the-counter drug? A dr. needs to decide if there's a broken rib or whatever, then we can think about "taking tylenol and not overdoing." Sheesh, Vicki, I'm sorry this is happening to you. Hugging you gently. Luci
