Had my follow up appt with onc (actually saw the nurse practitioner) and was prescribed Tamoxifen.  The 5-year journey begins!  I was also supposed to see may rads onc, but the auth from the insurance didn't come through, so I have to wait for that.  My last rads was 2 1/2 weeks ago and all the redness is gone.  I have been so lucky throughout all my treatments that I have not had bad side effects.

Last night, a bunch of people from work went out to celebrate my graduation from treatment.  They are so sweet and have been a tremendous support to me.

My school starts in 2 weeks.  I hope I have the energy for this new adventure!

Hopefully Tamoxifen will be as easy for you as the other treatments. I was lucky too and it was relatively easy for me.

And good luck with school, this is certainly a grand adventure!

Tammy,

I think it's from when you start taking the Tamoxifen.

It is when you begin taking the Tamoxifen.  I didn't begin it until 3 years after my first episode with cancer.  I took it for 5 years after that. I didn't have any trouble with the Tamoxifen except for the hot flashes.  Onc and Gyn both suggested Effexor for the hot flashes and it worked!!!  It's a lot better than chemo and it makes you feel like you are still fighting the ole bc!
