Hi friends! I have a question. How many of you that were node neg and the cancer was caught early are taking something after your five year mark? I was Stage 1, but had an aggressive cancer, node neg. small tumor 6mm. I am not on anything now after finishing tamoxifen for 5 yrs. I wondered how others in similar circumstances are being treated. Thanks!

I had 3 positive lymph nodes and finished my 5 years with Tamoxifen.  I didn't start it until almost three years after my first episode with bc because of my age.  After I finished Tamoxifen, my onc put me on Femara but I was immediately diagnosied with a recurrence by blood work.  I am still on the Femara and finished with chemo and doing well.  I would ask about the Femara.

Nothin' here, Gail....premenopausal, so onc says nothing for me. He says there is not enough research to support inducing menopause to add an aromatase inhibitor at my age, so off I go into the sunset....

I was told the same thing in the beginning because I was premenopausal - then onc changed his mind when research concerning tamoxifen came in.

I like that Saying postal2.  I regularly send for chocolate from a fellow teacher who keeps tons of it on hand.  She knows when I send a ziploc bag to her room - 1st - it's a bad day in 1st day and 2nd - only chocolate can keep me at school!!!

THANK GOD FOR CHOCOLATE!!!!!

I don't think I even count in the hunt. I never had chemo, rads, took Tamoxifen for about six months, saw an onc twice and all he wanted to talk about was my weight which was nearly 100 pounds less than it is now. In other words I was not really heavy at that point. I never went back to see him in two years as he suggested nor did I ever see another onc. Everything is fine as far as I know cancer wise, now if I could get rid of the other problems I'd be all set. LOL. Hugs MK
