Anyone hear about this?  Digital mammo proves better for premenopausal women, under age 50 with dense breast tissue. Woo hoo! Score an advance for the younger woman's fight against BC! yeah

I need to ask my onc about this, since I just had my mammo in August.

Anyone else hear of this story or have personal experiences with digital mammography?

I also read about this somewhere, perhaps in a news magazine? The hospital where I have mammograms just got a new machine so my thought was this new technology is really great but wonder how long it will take to filter down and everyone have the capability to use it? I imagine big breast centers will be first. I'm happy to hear of new advances in detection, but I truly wish someone would discover why breast cancer seems to be getting more and more common. Let us know if it is available to you, Lori and what you find out. Hugs MK

MK, I contacted my RN and she spoke to my onc. He does recommend this for me and U of M does offer this. Wondering why no one did it for me before? I think when I asked my surgeon a couple years back, he said it was not yet proven to be better....well now it is proven so I am thrilled to have a new weapon! She said that he does not see a reason for me to come in until my next routine mammo, which is August 2006.

So, I guess I wait....

Lori

That sounds great Lori....I sure hope the rest of the cancer centers get this very soon.
Not sure if mine has it, but I will ask when I go in December..
