Does anyone know if you can take flaxseed and soy nuts ect while on arimidex? I have been reading alot about the phytoestrogens. See I wonder if you take arimidex and digest flaxseed and/or soy produces would it enhance the effects of arimidex and increase your chances of not getting breast cancer again. Yikes anyway I went to health store today bought ranch soy nuts and flaxseed I ground up the flaxseed and put it on my cereal tonight and now I am worried that maybe I shouldn't have done that. does anyone have any idea if it would hurt or help... skeeter1 .. I also read that green tea is good for you too and turmeric spice... does any one know anything about these and if it hurts to eat any of this and also take arimidex??? I also take effexor for the hot flashes.. need help hope someone knows that answers. skeeter1

I would ask the onc and a nutritionist. I was once told that small amounts of phytoestrogens are ok, but not in excess...and I do not know what is considered excess. Best to ask a professional...

I am surprised Jo-Ann did not answer you. I know she used flaxseed at one time. Never heard her say anthing about soy, tho. I am not into that sort of thing, so I know nothing about it. I will try to remember to suggest she answer you. Hugs MK

According to the book "Eat right for your bloodtype" flaxseed and soy are supposed to be benefical for people with cancer...unfortunately, it doesnt say how any of these things may interfere with treatments - sorry.

Careful though....soy is known to have positive effects for some conditions, but "cancer" is not universal to all cancers....Soy is a phytoestrogen and too much of that is a bad thing after breast cancer....

Thanks for the advise. I decided to quit taking flaxseed and soy I just don't know enough about it and wouldn't want to do anything to make the cancer come back thanks... skeeter1
