Tavish...My name is Elizabeth. I was kindly helped by you and other when I was going through a series of mammograms, ultrasounds, etc. So far so good in that area. However, after still not feeling well, and basically getting to the point of not being able to function, I found a new doctor. Apparently with my cat scans, labwork, etc, he is almost certain I have a)lymphoma & b)pancreatic cancer. I am scheduled for an endoscopic ultrasound Tuesday to check on the pancreas to be certain. He has scheduled me to see someone by the name of Dr. Margolis at Beaumont hospital. Just wondering what your thoughts are, if any, on Beaumont. I am thankful to have this new primary care doctor, but he works out of Beaumont, and I'm in the Ann Arbor area. If you have a minute, would love any advice. Thanks much.

Hi Elizabeth-
I remember you and am so sorry to hear you are feeling poorly. As you know, Beaumont and U of M are nationally ranked facilities with excellent reputations. It would be a long drive for you to go to Beaumont for regular care if you are in the AA area...going for a consult is one thing. If U of M offers a comparable doc that you like, it may be easier for you. I did my BC tx at U of M (live in Royal Oak) but because the frequency was only once every 3 weeks, with the exception of a couple appts at the beginning.

If it were me, I would get copies of all the scans, reports, etc, and keep my own file. Go see Dr. Margolis, and then consider the U for a second opinion...or even St Joe's has a good reputation too. You may want to get copies of those mammograms and stuff from back then, just to have a complete file...and in case there is a connection.

Please keep us posted...
Lori
