Atrophic pattern, parabasal cell type, (can occur with hormone therapy, menopause, post partum, lactation, and radiation.)
Low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion
More serious not excluded.
It seems very strange to me that the doctor wouldn't have called me herself and answered questions. Or am I wrong???? The nurse told me that the gyn would answer them, but that isn't for 6 weeks. I'll call my old gyn tomorrow and get some answers and see if she can fit me in. Thanks for all of your help. If anyone has knowledge of this, please chime in. Hugs, Di

Miss you too Gail!!!!!!!!!! Thought we would be seeing each other by now. I have been going to call you so many times. Things have been so nuts here. My mom is sick too. The alzheimers is bad and now she is dizzy. Dad took her to the hospital and had an xray. Nothing showed up in the lungs but she is having trouble with breathing. Only 93% oxygen. They are working on it. A very dear old neighbor and friend of theirs, a nurse, helps me. I just can't let on how much we are in contact or I would lose her. Dad needs to do so much but yet is being very kind to her and deals with the problems himself so I probably don't have any right to talk. I tell him he is doing a good job and so does everyone. He needs encouragement but also needs discernment. Talk to you soon. Lots of big hugs, Di

Hi Di, I don't know if you have already read this, but I found this at Mayo Clinic. I hope it helps you some at least.
Love you, Gail

Squamous intraepithelial lesion. This term is used to indicate that the cells seen on the Pap test are consistent with abnormalities in the cervix that may be precancerous (cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, or dysplasia). If the threat is low-grade, the size, shape and other characteristics of the cells suggest that if a precancerous lesion is present, it's likely to be years away from becoming a cancer. If the threat is high-grade, the certainty of something being wrong on the cervix is greatly enhanced, and the lesion is likely to be farther down the road to cancer. Diagnostic testing must be done as the next step.

Oh dear I am sorry to hear you may have more problems, Di. I think the doctor who got the report should give you some answers now not in six weeks or whenever. You have way too much to be worrying about, young lady. I always chuckle when I think of you and how great you look for your age, I think of you as at least 15 years younger. I got a Christmas card from Sandra no note, or any info. I'm not sure if it was last Christmas when we talked last or emailed. Take care. Love and prayers, MK

Hi, Di. Sounds like this is not such bad news...other than the fact that you don't have a cervix, so I would definitely want someone to be looking at this closer to make sure where the dysplasia is and how much there is.

Take care, sweetie, and I certainly hope you don't have to wait 6 weeks for answers.

P.S....When I had a similar result, they had me use something called Metro-gel (SP?) before repeating the test. While it is for infection, for some reason it sometimes affects these cells. My second test still came back abnormal, but you might ask about it?

Thanks Bev, I'll definately ask. Hi to you, MK. I certainly have been wondering about you. Are you OK? I had actually forgotten about Sandra by now. I hope she and her family are doing well and the company is what they hoped it would be. Thanks for the kind words, but when I see myself in the mirror, especially in the middle of the night, I wonder who that is.
Thanks to all. I feel a little better and am finished whining. I called the doctor who did my hysterectomy. As I was talking to the nurse, she actually got on and said, "Hi, this is Michelle, what's going on?' Not many doctors like her. She didn't have time to check my records but she said I probably do not have a cervix. They had me scheduled for a colposcopy here and she said she would do a biopsy. She said she would Make time for me! Even at Christmas. I am going the first week in January. From now on, I should go down there twice a year to see her. She said that it is , at the worst, probably low grade dysplasia at the top of the vagina. I may need to go to the operating room for laser surgery. That didn't sound so bad. At least she, and you all, made me feel better. Thanks. Love and Hugs, and MK, don't stay away so long, Di

Hi Di.  What a great doctor (your old gyn).  I'm so glad she's taking charge... sounds like she's looking out for you.  Hmm, colposcopy, I'm pretty sure I had one oh probably about 20 years ago so I don't remember a lot about it.  I did have it done in gyn office and do remember it wasn't bad.  After that the pap tests came back normal.

Will be sending out prayers for your January doc visit/procedures.  I'm glad your "Wren" is okay.  I still have a picture to send out to her (a neighbor cat that came over to say hi to me during visit to sister in AZ ... thought she looked like Wren).

Love and Hugs, Libby

Hi Di! I am a little late posting but I am glad to see that your old OB/gyn called you back. She sounds fantastic and well worth the drive. I hope that what she said makes you feel better. I know that it would me. Take care and enjoy your holidays.

Hugs..Deb

Di:

I'm late on this too.  I hope that you're getting some answers.  Gail's report from the Mayo sounded positive.  I hope you can navigate the medical Mischigas.

Know I'm thinking of you.

Hi Deb, Ellen, and Libby,
Thanks for all the ideas and inspiration. Thanks for saying it wasn't bad Libby. I think I may have had it before too but I don't know. When I had dysplasia before, they did a biopsy and then a cone procedure before the hysterectomy. She didn't hurt me at all and it only took a few minutes. According to the information the other doctor sent me though, it takes 30 minutes. I know it wasn't like that before. Wren sends her love to you, Libby, as always. Love, Di and Wren

Please keep us posted and know that you continue to be in my prayers.
