Hi All

Just want everyone to know that I had my Dr appointment today and he decided against the brochoscopy and is going to do a mediastinoscopy. What it involves is an 1 1/2 inch incision in the neck and they put a scope into the lungs to take they biopsy with. They have decided not to try to take any of the nodules but to biopsy the lymph nodes instead. There are 2 right next to my heart that are very enlarged and that is the ones they are most worried about. I will be in surgery for 1 1/2 hours. They put you completly under which is fine by me. I forgot to ask if I will have an answer tomarrow or not, I hope so because Im tired of waiting.

Wish me luck!
Bernadette

Pink Feather Brigade is ready and the PCE is fueled and ready. I am so glad I kept my pink ears. We will be in fine form as you go through this. I promise to try not to let to many feathers fly. Just enough to let you know we are there. I wonder how your procedure will go if we just tickle his or her nose with a feather to keep this procedure going smoothly. I have no idea what kind of outfits the ladies will be wearing but it should prove interesting. Hugs

Hi All

Just got home from the hospital, and so far so good. The Dr says the preliminary test show no cancer but will not have a definative answer until Thursday. I know all of your prayers are what helped me to get through this.....THANK YOU. The surgery itself went fine it took 1 1/2 hours just like he said. When I woke up I immediatly had an asthma attack, they put me on a breathing treatment and then I had another one. So much for an easy time. My throat feels like someone made me swallow sand paper, it hurts to swallow anything. Other than that I feel good just sleepy. I have a very large patch across my neck that has to stay on for 72 hours. It hurts to lift my head up, because it stretches the incision.

I had to warn the nurses that there would be lots of pink feathers, and sure enough there was. Luckily this was a very large operating room so that all of you could fit. I appreciate each and everyone of you being there.

Thanks again for always being there!

Bernadette: I am glad to hear that everything went well. Sorry that you are feeling so badly right now but hopefully your throat and neck will be better today. Don't try and do too much. Just take it easy.

Lots of prayers that the dr is right and that there is no cancer.

Hugs...Deb

Deb

Thanks for the note, Iam feeling better today not as much pain in my neck. I was happy but hesitant about the preliminary results. I was told ahead of time that even if I got a negative result that there was still a chance that there is cancer. The reason was that they could not biopsy the nodules just the lymph nodes. So I still feel like Iam in limbo. I just don't understand why the spots were there and then virtually gone and then bam as soon as I was done with chemo they were back again. I guess I might never know the whole story.

Bernadette: I know how you feel about not understand how the spots could disappear and then reappear. This darn disease! grrrrrrrrr I felt the same way about the spot on my sacrum. How could something be there and then be gone? Scared the heck out of me. Even though I have been given an all clear again, I am continuing w/ the hercpetin as a preventative measure once a month. Maybe there will be a med that will work for you like this. My prayers are w/ you. I hope that everything comes back clear. Try and keep the positive thoughts. I know it is hard. But we are here w/ you.

Glad to hear that you are feeling better today. Just continue to take it easy. Heck, milk it for all it's worth! lol

Hugs...Deb
