I met with my onco on Tuesday, and here's the plan:
A/C every 3 weeks for 12 weeks.
Taxol with Herceptin weekly for 12 weeks.
Continue Herceptin alone every 3 weeks for a year total.
Tomaxifen for 5 years.
Initially, before the pathology report came back, my onco had said I'd be having the A/C every 2 weeks for 8 weeks.  People on another forum are saying that I should DEFINITELY be getting it every 2 weeks, not every 3.  What are your thoughts on that?  I'm going to ask my onco why she changed it to make sure I'm comfortable with that, but I'm curious as to what others' oncos have done in a case similar to mine.

Hi Pam: I am glad that the appt went well w/ your onoc. Your treatment sounds pretty standard to me. It has been 5 yrs since I had the A//c, so I am not familiar w/ the plan of every 2 weeks. That must be something new. Most women that I know have had 4 treatments, every 3 weeks. I think that if you are questions about your treatment plan, then you need to call your onco and either talk to him/her or the nurse. I also had 12 weeks of taxol. Herceptin was still in the trial stage at that time. I have been on Herceptin since 11-2003...weekly for 26 months and now every 3 weeks. Now I am using it as a preventive measure.

When is your first treatment? Talk to your onco before hand about the meds that you can get for the side effects. Have them already at home. Remember that the anticipation of the first treatment..the "fear of the unknown" is worse than the treatment itself! Keep busy and laugh lots.
