Dear Breast Friends,

My family and I walked in the race for the cure in Columbus Ohio today.  It was the largest group of people ever.  31,000 people ran, walked, limped, and just watched everyone go past adding their encouragment.  I just wanted you all to know that each and everyone of you, still here fighting the beast, those that have passed on leaving their love and friendship and courage were in my heart and I thought of all of you.  Once again, I was able to meet new Breast Friends and share with them this awesome experience.

Peace and blessings to you all,

Candy

Candy,

It sounds like you had a wonderful day! And the weather should have been beautiful as well.  We were in Berlin (Amish country) and the sun shone all day!!!!!!!!  (a change from the last week and a half) Ha!

I bet that your Race for the Cure was just amazing.  Sounds like there was a fantastic turnout. That would have been a sight to see.

Think of you often,
Debbie

Hey, Candy and Debbie!

Just wanted to tell you both that Greg and I often think about you and hope you are doing great.

(Greg is still crazy about trains....he now wants to put a very large model train layout in the living room, of all places!)

Nothing like a train chain to get me smiling!!!!  I just want the kind of toy train Arthur had with the coffee coming by the bed in the morning on the morning express!!!!! (I always was torn between that and that great marble bathtub when picking a favorite indulgence from that movie.....nope....the coffee train definately wins!)

so tell me..... weren't we cursed enough with BC and chemo and rads, etc?  Why do we have to celebrate with a marathon?????????????????

Like, do we really need to work hard?  I was kinda hoping for a break with this, ya know???

LOL

as much as I complain about the exercize entailed with these events, there's nothing to beat that survivor's lap for making me kvell (that's well-up to those of you who are not fortunate enough to have a little yiddish in your reportoire).

Erin, hope you're doing ok.  write as soon as you can!

I would first like to say "Thank You", Candy. I am so proud of you for doing this. It makes me tearful to see how much you care about all of us. I am honored to call you "Friend".

Love You, Jo-Ann

Thank you Jo-Ann, I consider you a FRIEND too.  Actually one of those that I would sit next to you and say "darn... that was fun." before bailing you out.

Love and great big HUGS,

Candy

The "Race" is here in Washington DC today. It was a little emotional for me watching it on tv when the survivors were walking up to the stage. One of my local news stations was covering it. I didn't know it was today, I thought it had already happened last month. I wouldn't have been able to do it. I'm still dealing with my calves swelling and a little bit in my feet. I'm still not sure if this is chemo related or not. I am 5 months out of chemo now.

"Kattbird"

Just having the desire in your heart is all that matters.  We all fight our battles in our own ways and through our abilities.  Walking a mile was as much as I could accomplish this year.  Hopefully next year I will be able to walk the 5K.  If not I will be on the sidelines screaming Yeah to all that pass by.

Love and hugs,

Candy

I haven't yet done a Race for the Cure, but I will be walking the survivor's lap in the Relay for Life on June 17.  I will be thinking of all you ladies and the ones who have left us.  I'm sure it will be emotional for me.
L & H,
Kathy
