I woke up this morning with a small sore lump just to the left my my nipple on my left breast. It's not real hard and distinct...although my boyfriend could feel something when he helped me check. I'm not sure if I bumped it or not...but I don't remember that I did.  It's sore just like as if I were putting pressure on a bruise.  I do not see anything visible on the outside.  My breast doesn't have any visible outer signs of trauma...it looks normal.  I have no family history of breast complications, although I know that doesn't mean that I'm okay.  I'm very scared about seeing the doctor and can't get to one right away, and would just like someone's input on this.  I know I have to have a doctor check it.

Hi there,

Yes sore breasts of any kind this day in age is enough to set anyones imagination and worry running.  Oh, by the way nice to meet you I am QB, 24.  You have every right to be frightend especially without remembering bumping into anything or any other kind of roughness for that area.  Honestly though, do your best not to let this thing rule your mind until you know for sure what it is.  And of course only your gynocologist<-- (not sure if i spelled that right) can tell you that.  As for recommedations on how to do this the only thing i can recommend is to just realize that by letting it paralize you, you are giving the unknown complete control over your life.  But, once you know what it is then you can get real with it, wether it is a swollen gland, cyst, or something that only your Dr. will discover.  The process is a very long one to the discovery end of it as well at least in my case even though i am finding out that mine is moving along rather quickly, using weeks rather than months.  Still feels like enternity... All I am saying is sweety hang in there we are all here for you and if you need to talk, you at least know i where i am.   yeah   Good luck, and lightning speed in discovery.

Taking it one day at a time....

QB has given you good advice. There are many reasons for a soreness. Get to a doctor as soon as you are able but don't panic if it is not for a few weeks. Unless there are signs of infection (redness and warmth) you can wait a little while for an appointment. If it looks like an infection, you do need to get on antibiotics so be sure to tell them when you call for an appointment. Let us know what you find out. Hugs MK

Agree with the others. Call your doctor -- either gyn/ob or primary care physician -- and get this checked. Seventy-five to 80 percent of breast lumps are NOT cancer. So the odds are in your favor. Let us know what you find out. Like Gma always says, don't worry until you know you have something to worry about. Lauri
