hi all. My sis-in-law introduced me to this site. my mother in law is fighting a mean round of cancer. she lives in maryland and we live in iowa. we see each other once per year but are in constant contact and are very close. distance has not made us less close. we do feel however, helpless in the sense that we cannot be there to be a lending hand, a shoulder to cry on, give encouraging words and help out more. the distance thing bothers me; although i know that that's how it is and that they would never think another thing about it...that's just how it is.
my mother in law is a fighter and we know God is watching over her. sometimes it just seems like it's a battle you are fighting alone.  how do others that dont live real close handle that part of it.
my sister in law is doing an awesome job and we're lucky we have her in our family. i love her dearly!

Bertie - First of all, I want to tell you that your mother-in-law will be in my prayers. It is great that you care so much about her. Your silent well-wishing will reach her. I don't have the long distance issues that you have, so I am afraid I do not have any advice there.

Just wanted to welcome you and wish you and your family the best throughout this journey.
