sad  OK I'm getting ready to go change my dressings after surgery 48 hrs ago. I have no idea what it's gonna look like. Should be a small incision under the areola, so lets go look. LOL yeah

Well??  How does it look?  After my lumpectomy I was surprised at how sore it looked, because it wasn't at all sore.  Very bruised with a small indentation in the breast.

Hope all is well.

Hugs,

Candy

Well, it looks like half of a moon under my nipple, maybe 4 or 5 stitches. I didnt take the last 3 strips off, the steri - strips I think they're called, because they're supposed to help the skin grow back together I think. But all in all, I don't look disfigured or anything. YAY! But there is a lotta swelling, and redness. Remember its only 48 hrs. old. I'm pretty happy with this part of the surgery. Now we'll see what the biopsy says soon. What kinda scarring have you all experienced? I know my boss has a scar that goes in a slice straight across and thru her nipple. I though the placement was a lil odd on hers.

It all depends on where the lump was and how big.  My lumpectomy scar was about 5 inches long about half way between the nipple and outside edge.  Now my mastectomy scar was very strange.  Even my rads onc mentioned that.  It went straight for a while and the zig-zagged a bit and went under the arm.  Now with my TRAM flap, I have an elliptical shaped scar.  I just got my nipple and reduction/lift on the other side Friday, so I don't know what that looks like yet.

I have been using Scar Zone, but haven't noticed any changes.  Before that, I was just using pure Aloe Vera gel.  My PS doesn't think that helps, though.  I don't think I'll get the Scar Zone again.  It's expensive and if it doesn't really do anything, why waste the money.

We are waiting right along side you for the biopsy results.  Let us know.
L & H,
Kathy
