Hi all old friends and new BC posters on this board,

I have not had the time or energy to check in for a long time, but want you all to know that I am doing pretty well.  Still fighting the cough I have had for the past 3 years.  When I went in for my checkup with ONC a couple of weeks ago, they rearranged some of my meds and put me on a high powered antibiotic that seems to be working - for now.  I was totally exhausted from coughing and was not keeping any - or much - food down because of coughing so hard.  Hopefully this is the answer.

I am scheduled to have the cancer "remapped" - whatever that means - starting with a physical this week, an appointment with my cardiologist on Oct 31st and LOTS of tests through ONC on Nov 13th.  I start with chest CT, bone scan, abdominal CT and something else - can't remember right now, as well as more blood work.  Have so much pain in my right hip and lower back, as well as lower right abdomen at times, so guess they are going to start at the top and work their way down.  ONC assured me that he is positive it is not the cancer, but they are going to rule that out and see what the cause is.  I am needing to have some minor surgeries - uvula trimmed, hemrroids taken care of, etc, but all are dependent on how my cardiology appointment comes out.  Will have another Echocardiogram prior to seeing him also to see if the multiple meds they have had me on this past year have increased the ejection refractory of my heart any.

The family is doing great.  The two grandkids are both growing so fast.  Aiden is 18 months old and Megan is 13 1/2 months.  Both are running and keeping their parents on their toes with their antics.  We all plan to get together on the weekend of Oct 20th so that will be fun also.  My mom has had a lot of health issues this past summer and fall and had back surgery 5 weeks ago.  AT 85 she is not perking back as quickly as she thinks she should.  We are working to get her in senior housing and get some home assistance for her also.  All the paper work and now I have to become Power of Attorney so I can make some of these decisions that are needed.  All of this is draining my energy too.  Working full time and being a parent and a child to an elderly parent takes it's toll.

Sorry about the rambling, but wanted to catch up with all of you that I miss so much and catch you up on my life.  Would love to continue to hear from you if you have the time.  I have updated my email address and don't know how to make the change on Healing Well.  If anyone an help me, that would be greatly appreciated also.  Meantime, I will try to check in here periodically.

Take care and God Bless all of you.  Those of you I have met in person, I would love to meet again, and those of you I only know by name on the boards, it would be great to meet you as well.  If anyone is ever driving through western North Dakota, let me know.  I am right on the Interstate and would love to have coffee, lunch, dinner with you.

God Bless.

Kitty:

It is good to see you post and good to hear about what is happening in your life.  I understand what you mean about life and those that need our help.  I too am a wife, parent, grandparent, sister, daughter and daughter-in-law.  I have heavy responsibilities in regards to my Mother.  Now my father-in-law is very ill and my husband and his sister are taking on lots to help him.  I step in when I can.  I just take it a day at a time and pray a lot!! Meanwhile I have my two grandgirls that are just a riot to be around.  I enjoy taking care of them and spending time with them.

I hope your med change helps the cough.  I will pray for you while you go through all the testing and hope for B/9 results.

Hang in there,

Peace,

Candy

Hi, Kitty! Great to see a post from you. I have been wondering where you were. I hope all goes well with your medical issues. It's hard when you have so many other things to worry about.

Take care, sweetie.

Love and hugs...

Kitty, the only person I ever "knew from N. Dakota. So good to hear from you. I can not imagine what it must be like to deal with all of that and health issues also. Hope all goes well and please let us hear from you more often. Love and Hugs. Joyce

Hey, Kitty, good to hear from you again. Sorry you are dealing with continuing health issues, but that seems to be the course some times. Good luck in dealing with your mother's issues, too. Life is a challenge in the sandwich generation. Are you and Leon planning a trip to Minneapolis in December again? Maybe we could get together. Hugs and love, Lauri
