Hi everybody,

I am a 24 year old woman with crohn's disease.  Around the third week of november I was outside checking my horses hooves when she kicked me with her hind legs directly into my left breast.  Thankfully I was wearing several layers of clothing and she didn't break anything.  So I never went to the doctor about it.  Immediatly my breast started hurting and it hasn't stopped since.  I was wondering if anyone thought that that could be normal or if I should get it checked out by my doc.  I have spent a fortune on my crohn's without heath insurance and I really don't want to spend anymore money I don't have on more medical bills.  Has anyone heard of breast injuries taking a long time to heal or experinced similar symptoms?
Since I got kicked my left breast either aches all the time or it itches (I have bruised my breast scratching it it gets so bad) or I will get extremely sharp pains randomly in it.  My right breast hurt for about 2 weeks after getting kicked but it doesn't hurt anymore.  I would appreciate any feed back on this if anyone has any advice.  Thanks,  Jess

Well, I don't think it is cancer related, but you could have bruised tissue, bruised muscles deep in the chest, broken ribs...only a doctor would be able to pinpoint the cause of your pain, but I would think getting kicked by a horse could cause any and/or all of those things.

Are you on any immunosuppressive therapy that would slow healing time? Bones can get infections in them, if they are damaged.

Only you can decide if a doctor's visit is warranted. Good luck, and hope you feel better soon.

Bev, thank you for your reply. I am on immunosuppressive therapy, which I was worried about that. It is my breast soft tissue that hurts though it is definanitely not my bones and it has been almost 2 months since I had the horse kick me. Every where else that hurt from it quit hurting about 2 weeks afterward. I just feel so stuck, because I know I should see a doctor. But I just can't afford it.
