and he asked about all of JoAnnie's old friends from the board and how you all were doing.

I think today was the first day we were able to talk about her and laugh together without one of us holding back a tear.  It was terrific to see him in good spirits.

He's even going to "the boat" to gamble this weekend, which is something you old-timers know JoAnn loved to do.  I don't know that he's gone since she passed away.

Anyway, it was good to see him in such good spirits.  Their son, Mike, (Lori, JoAnnie had such hopes for him and you!) has graduated from college, moved back home, and is working at a large financial institution here, doing very well.

The only blemish is that JoAnnie's little dog, Mia, has lupus, so she has been undergoing chemo.  She seems to be responding well, though. Benito didn't have the heart to put her down, which is what the vet had recommended.

Just wanted to share for those of you who knew her well.  The rest of you...boy, did you ever miss out!

Love and hugs...
BEV

Our beloved leader of the Hell's Hooterless Angels, JoAnn (without a hyphen) was someone as opionated as I, and I loved it. It must go with the name. I will always picture her with the pink leather jacket, on the pink Harley, riding shotgun on our midnight forays as we all cruised our way down the blacktop. I can still hear her laugh.

I am glad to hear that the family is doing well. I think of her so often. Just the other day I was going through some photos and found one of her and me. I am glad you updated us. It helps to know what the families are doing. It doesn't make the loss any easier but it's nice to know what has happened to them.

She's up there just smiling down on them like she smiles on us. I know how much you must miss her, Bev, but I know she misses you, too.

Love You, Jo-Ann

Hi Bev-
Thanks for the post. I always wonder about the families of those that we have lost. I used to keep in touch with Julie's mother and with Susan's mother, but not sure how to find them these days.

Funny you said she had high hopes for me and her son! I remember in St. Louis she was trying to play match maker, but I think she fogot even then that I am at least 10 years older than her son...he may have been in high school when I met her?? It was pretty funny though, thanks for the smile.

Gee, those old days in the village were something special, that is for sure. We got a great thing going now here, but it was a really amazing time for such a group...

Hugs to us all-
Lori

I thinj it is wonderful that you keep in touch with Benito so faithfully. He sounds like a great guy and I am sure he is happy to see you and talk. Thanks for telling us about Mike, too. Wouldn't JoAnnie be proud of him? She already was when he was still in HS. Thanks for sharing and keeping us updated. Hugs MK

Awww, this was such a nice post, Bev. Glad to hear Benito is doing well. Just thinking about JoAnn makes me smile. She was so funny and so kind. I remember her hugs in St. Louis when I got a little weepy thinking about the enormity of our gathering and what the future might be. She said I just had a tender heart. Well, I think she did, too. Hugs, Lauri
