A little background first.  We have been trying for over a month to have our newspaper stopped at our old house.  I made an annual payment so I did not know the delivery person to call and called the main office.  And called the main office over and over talking to everyone from the janitor to the supervisor yet nothing stopped the paper from coming.  Jo-Ann was here when we were calling.  She and I decided the only way to stop it was to lie in wait some morning.  She thought we were going to do it on the way to Chuck's endoscopy so here is the email she sent me.

I couldn't fall asleep until almost two and then woke at 6 and couldn't go back to sleep. Perhaps it is because I knew that you would be confronting the paperman at six. I have these visions of you and Chuck, camaflagued clothing, black-faced, inching up the hill as he comes into sight. As he lifts his arm to throw the paper, Chucks "Hold it Buddy" frightens him almost as much as the elephant gun that Chuck is holding. MK is backing this all up with her own personal UZI sub-machine gun which leaves a straith of bullets from the front of the car, through the tires, to the back of the car. News and film at 10.

Paper was there again this morning...............  LOL  MK

I'm having a vision of you and Chuck in cammo.  "reach for the skies"  (or read'em and weep, as it were.)

Thank you Jo-Ann, even remotely you give a belly-aching chuckle.  And I sure needed it.

Jo-Ann stories always bring a good laugh.  MK, you be carefulwith that UZI.  We need a BRCA-UZI for your Carolyn.  I figure if anyone knows where to get one, it would be Jo-Ann.  She is a woman of incredible resources.  Jo-Ann???

Love and hugs to you both.

I am so happy you shared that. I had a good chuckle. Now here is an idea. I have decided people that deal with the printed word do not hear well. After beating my head against a wall over a similar issue, here is my advice.....Call and ask where is your check. Tell them you cancelled your order a month ago. When they correct you about how you only changed addys....Jump all over them. Next tell them you want a refund dating back to your original call. You will then order a new subscription when you have your refund in hand. Sadly it was the only thing that worked for me. What ever you do never buy anything from a publisher where you want the bill and ship it to someone else. Boy oh boy can they mangle that. Hugs and good luck. Joyce

Joyce, on one of the calls we told them to just deliver the paper to my grand daughter's address and forget cancelling it. Well, they couldn't do that because it was already cancelled and the refund check had been issued. Yes, we got the check for $36. But the paper was there again yesterday. Here is what they finally discovered at the paper office. When I first called in the guy cancelled the paper at the old address, which made the account number drop off the system. Then all the subsequent calls to stop the delivery of the paper were sent to the carriers using the old account number, which no one was showing on their route anymore. Sooooo since no one had that number it was not on their route................ now I think they are trying another method of reaching the right carrier. After all this is a big city with a huge circulation of millions. If not I guess we will have to take action Jo-Ann's way. I am surprised she didn't have us use Mr. Smith and Mrs. Wesson. LOL Next I should tell you about Chuck's trip to the real estate tax office. Better yet, Jo-Ann knows that situation, too, maybe she can conjure up a story. How about it Jo-Ann using facts, just the facts, ma'm, it is funny in itself. Hugs MK

I can't wait. Jo-Ann we will beg if necessary. I think we can all use some of the famous Mr. Smith and Mrs. Wesson humor. I think you should also at some point this summer republish the fire ant series. I know our newest members would love a chance to laugh as hard as I did. Love to all. Joyce
