Hi Maryviolin, Welcome! Is your Dr planning on going further on the testing? Usaully they do an ultrasound next, (at least after a Momogram) and then a biopsy if needed. I would certainly want them to follow up with more. It may be it is nothing, but having had a mass with pre-cancer before, I would tell them I want a biopsy. That is the only way to know for SURE. Keep in touch and let us know what happens, ok? We are all here for you.

If you had a lump 14 years ago that was precancer why would you even consider playing guessing games as to what these masses may be? And guessing games are what doctors play when they don't do a biopsy because there is no sure way of knowing if a mass is cancer unless a pathology test is done. Some masses have characteristics of cancer and doctors usually can be fairly sure of cancer, but not all that don't have the standard characteristics are benign. So I say insist on a surgeon and get them removed. You don't need large masses in your breast no matter what they are. If they are true cysts they can be drained, so did anyone try that? Let us know what happens. Hugs MK

well they want me to have a ultra sound next and I have asked for a referral to a surgeon... I went and got a copy of the report myself today and they said that since I was allergic to the contrast dye and they could not use it for the test that the results are not as good as if they had used the dye(gadolidium)sp? so anyway I think they should take a piece of it out....It hurts really bad and all along my ribs and into my chest..but my chest CT was normal and my bone scan was neg. too.... so you got me...except on my bone scan my whole sternum was really white....and they did not mention it in the report...huh... I don't know...I am a little frustrated....Thanks for listening....M

OK I am a little confused. The bone scan was negative yet the sternum showed white? Somehow that doesn't sound right but then I have never seen or had a bone scan. According to my daughter the bone scan shows activity only, but I thought the activity was whitish. Some of the others will probably help here who have had experience. I think I would get the ultra sound and ask more questions and push for answers. I think your referral to a surgeon is a right move, preferably one who tends to be more of a breast specialist than a general surgeon. Smaller towns don't always have specialists for everything but cities do. Keep us posted. I am really curious as to what is going on. Hugs MK
