Hi everyone this is my first time on these boards, im in need of some advice. I have found a redish/sometimes purple/black place on the under part of my breast it has been there for about 4months. I went and saw a doctor three months or so ago, she said "its a bruise you prob hit it on something, if it doesnt go away in a week or so call me..I knew I hadnt hit it on anything but she is the doctor not me"<== she didnt seem to worried.

The place didnt go away in a week , so I decided to give it a few more days and it never dissappeared, so I called her again.. the same doctor was suppose to make me an appointment with a specialist for something else and still hasnt, all and all she just doesnt seem to care. I have recently been looking for a new doctor. =( The place hasnt went away in four months so it is not a bruise.. I have added some photos in the links below of the spot, and maybe some of you can give me some information or input, it really has me worried. The pictures are cropped just so you can see the place and nothing else, dont worry. Thanks in advance everyone.

Hi there and good for you for being proactive! I could not really tell much from the picture and I am certainly not a medical person, but I would definitely not wait another day. It may be an insect bite that got infected, it may be nothing, but it may be something....and the only way to get peace of mind is to get it checked immediately. If your doctor does not have an appointment for you by tomorrow, please consider calling a specialist (breast surgeon or a breast care center) on your own and firing this doctor. There is a good chance it is nothing, but without a proper exam, there is no way to know. Please be your own best advocate and don't stop till you get what you need.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I agree that it looks more like an infection type situation. An abscess can be red or purple and will not necessarily seem like a local infection. But you would think a doctor would recognize that. I can't imagine a female doctor who would put this off so easily. I vote to go for a second opinion and certainly if one is available I would go to a breast center. I hope you are not on HMO where you need a primary care referral. If you are, perhaps you have a nurse answering questions with your insurance. We do and I have called before bothering my doctor on a weekend.

Lemonz is our expert IBC person. I hope she sees your post and looks at the pictures. Keep us posted as to what goes on.

Hugs MK

We called a specialist about 2 hours away, and it turns out I have to be refered.. =( I have an appointment for a different local doctor in the morning, and I'll let everyone know how it goes.

I sure can empathize with being out in the sticks and far from most everything.  I'd be interested to hear what you found out about your condition.  I care.
